Isn't that near the madrid fault that experienced the largest earthquake in the continent 250 years ago?

Same here in southwestern Indiana. Just finished up calming down the next door neighbor. She thought it might have been a terrorist attack. Quite a shaker for this part of the country.

Another one has popped up on the USGS site...in addition to the 4.4 near Paducah, KY there is now one listed as a 5.0 near Evansville, IN. Hopefully the New Madrid isn't coming apart.

I felt the rumble and my computer screen shook. I'm on the third floor and 80% of us felt it; a few didn't notice.

I'd say it happened at about 1:40 pm.

Rush is not on the air today, maybe he's back in the home town and dropped his wallet? ;-)

Stay safe!

you got a 4.4 (at the site of event)...
I got to feel a 4.2 here in Los Angeles about six months ago.
I was outside; felt like the earth had been picked up about six inches, then dropped
back onto bedrock (and did it a second time as well).
And I looked up and large plate glass windows were bowing in and out from the quake.

Jesse Ventura announced he's not running for election. You must be feeling the aftershock.

I felt it here in Southern Illinois (about 100 miles south of St. Louis)... It knocked some stuff off a shelf in my home. It was pretty strong! It scared the crap out of me! Last night the lights were flickering and wonder if that had something to do with early earthquake activity.

I'm on the USGS email list. The number of quakes above 5.0 in the last 24-48 hours has been enormously above usual--even above "usual" recent "swarms."

I don't know what it means. But it's not remotely usual. And they seem to be all around the Pacific Rim except for the midwest one.

The plates up near the Oregon, California border give me a real uneasy feeling as I look at the plate maps.

Any other FREEPERS have any feelings, thoughts, dreams about such?
