I’m not a teacher so I don’t know a lot..... The reason why I feel this way is because of my experience volunteering at my children’s old school and substitute teaching. The kids who made better grades and cared about school had parents who cared how they did in school.

Sppokbrat, as you are (1) an involved parent who homeschools, (2) a former substitute teacher, and (3) a former volunteer, I must strongly disagree with your assessment of your own knowledge, as I think you DO know a lot! (But you're still learning about FL, and that's OK. There's a lot to know!)

Thanks for all this information. I look forward to educating myself. Education is very important to me, but it's the one thing I can't seem to figure out. Most other issues seem pretty simple to me personally, but on education, I’m usually stumped for an answer.

What would you personally like to see as a teacher take place in the schools that hasn’t taken place yet? What would help? Jeb needs to be asking you these things. LOL You're so smart.

Also, sadly, I'm sure it's hard to remove misbehaving children from a classroom (next to impossible). That one day for me was very sobering. I couldn't believe how much time that poor child probably wasted for his regular teacher and the other children in that class. It was unbelievable for me. I was completely shocked. What a waste.
