I think his commentary is over the top, as well. However, it is pretty weird that a person is being held indefinitely without being charged based on government proclamation. I'd like to see a little more process in place for a person to challenge these government assertions, lest it become you and I facing indefinite confinement without being charged in 2009 or beyond.
Is the fellow a little exciteable? Could he have rephrased things? Certainly.
Are there legitimate concerns related to this indefinite incarceration without a process to challenge the charges (of which the government is providing none)? The Wall Street Journal seemed to think so on Friday.
This comment of sandmanbr's is completely incorrect.
Bang Zoom! Visions of Harrison Ford in Air Force One: "Get off my plane!" And good riddance!
I'd prefer the opposite occur. I think we should take over Mexico.
Canada, too.
We could have a flag with 50 Stars, a Maple Leaf, and Speedy Gonzalez.
The threat to liberty and freedom comes from Washington not Afghanistan. It's not Osama that denies an American citizen due process in this country. It's not the Taliban that allows law enforcement to break in and search your house and papers without a search warrant with no prior evidence of criminal activity. It's not Saddam that requires you to jump through hoops and do flips in order to own a firearm for self defense.
According to sandmanbr, we should be more afraid of our own government than Osama Bin Laden, the Taliban whackos, and Saddam Hussein. If that isn't anti-American and a bit paranoid, I don't know what is.

OKOKOK I know it's hard for some of you intellectually challenged to understand written English so here it is again.
The threat to liberty and freedom comes from Washington not Afghanistan. You do a lot of mud slinging but you have not credibly refuted any of what I said. Maybe you can tell me how our Constitutional freedoms are threaten by Osama. Our safety he may threaten but only our own government has the ability to threaten our freedoms and they are doing just that.
The rest of you can find the truth HERE
Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're really not out to getcha. -JR

Exactly. The chances of my grandkids getting killed in this particular terrorist war are slim. -- The chances of them getting killed in an ongoing, neverending government 'war on terrorism & liberty' over the next fifty years or so? -- I wouldn't want to quote odds.
Do they partake in illegal activities?
Weirdos come back with cute screen names, and demand their "rights", while claiming this a GOP-funded site.
NEWSFLASH FRESNO - I've never said anything nice about Dubya, and criticize his policies often - yet I'm still here - how can that be?
AND THIS HOT OFF THE NEWSWIRE - Murrymom has never been banned - how can that be? Because neither one of us go around claiming that the CIA and Bush conspired to cause 9/11, that's why - and we don't claim that the subhuman Osama is being framed by Big Oil.
And damn it - this had better be the last post to this thread!
Could it be because of General AraFox?
Remember Goliad!
Such as?

Such as holding an American citizen in jail for an indefinite length of time, without charges, with no right to an attorney, while being administered by a military tribunal instead of a court of law and judged by a jury of his peers as demanded by the Constitution of the United States.....hows that for starters.
Nope, I get last post.
It seems more and more activities are illegal.
Why, I cannot even band together with other people to fund commercials discussing the voting record of an incumbant 60 days before an election any more, contrary to the intent and wording of the First Amendment.
