Good-Bye Cruel Free Republic
6-16-02 | wasfree

Posted on 06/16/2002 5:32:24 AM PDT by magnum opus dejure

Well, it's been 4 years since I first found Free Republic. I have always felt like I belonged here and have really enjoyed the banter back and forth between us members. I am afraid all this is now over. I am really suprised and shocked at it's suddenness. Before I leave I want to thank a freeper from Michigan who sent me a DVD player last year to give to my kids for Christmas. You reaffirmed my faith in humanity.

I know this thread will be deleted before many people get to read it, but I just can't go without saying a final word. Every since 911 the 'vibe' here at FR has been decidedly hostile. I guess it was a matter of time before the newbie moderator got around to weeding me out for my sometimes unpopular views. So I join the ranks of A+Bert and so many others who gave FR a interesting flavor. I will miss coming here 20 times a day and keeping up on things. But without posting priviledges there is just no point. I must go find another conservative group to try to be a part of.

In the future, when a freeper who has been a loyal member since August 1998 crosses the line, how about a note instead of banning? Would that have been too much? I may have gotten out of line, how is beyond me, but if such a tresspass would have been pointed out I would gladly have refrained from doing so again. It is just not right to just ban an account with no explaination. Especially when the freeper has been here 4 years. I have no idea what I am going to do with my days now that I no longer have FR. Well, I guess I have said my part. It is a sad day when one has to leave family and friends. I feel like some of you were just that. But apparently I am no longer wanted around here. I bid my good day to you all and hope that karma pays it's respects to those who do injustice.

And because, as we face grave national security risks, there are those here that put the nation first and question some administration policy, especially the wild social spending, and there are those who want to back oppose everything the administration does--and nation be damned! And the future of our nation be damned!
There needed to be some changes to what you wrote. Possibly, both your version and mine are true, but there is no doubt in my mind that the latter is true. I expected the Democrats to politicize every action the administration made in the battle against the terrorists. I did not expect so many who call themselves "conservatives" to do so on Free Republic.

You have no idea how unnerving it is to visit my Democrat relatives and hear the exact same thing from them that I'm hearing from the "far right" on FR.....

Jim, I expect this sort of uneducated, sophmoric reply from Roscoe and his cronies at the RNC. I rarely post anymore because there is just no educating those morons and I have better things to do with my time that argue with a two-year old that relies on tangents and personal attacks when they are wrong.

From you, however, such a reply is unprecedented. 99% of your posts are lucid, well-thought replies that state your position and refute with logic, positions contrary to your beliefs. I again come back to your discussions with me regarding asset forfeiture.

What gives? Laz has a very legitimate point and is not trashing Bush, merely asking that this government respect the rules laid out for it over 200 years ago.

Have you changed your position on secret search warrants, asset forfeiture, the Constitution in general and coke-heads in the white house? (You know what I'm talking about.)

I miss the old Jim and the old FR. Some time soon I'd like to buy you an adult beverage or two and talk about old times and how the hell we got to this point....Regards.

===================================

Well said Ab. -- Bears repeating.
--- As sneakypete mentioned after recieving much the same type of reply, emotion was talking here, not logic.

So basically, you wanted to get banned because of censorship, and so you posted the things you thought were being censored, and you didn't get banned, and now you are asking the moderators or Jim to ban you for your views?

This thread has really been a trip down the rabbit hole.

Then, again, aren't you the same fellow who once said that Arlington National Cemetery is a 'socialist enterprise'?

I am. Arlington is also not authorized by the constitution. What is your point?

And who were you before you became magnum opus dejure?

That has to be A+bert and he returned on a Sunday morning, that is, when it's 5 pm in Dublin (a joke).

Bert, if you could have stopped singing Hava Nagila and just *punted* you wouldn't have gotten busted. :)

That there are a number of crackpots on FR pretending to be authorities on the Constitution?

I posted in 1252 some links that may frighten you further. Check them out. It helps if you know that an anarchist believes, as a communist does, in "from each according to their means, to each according to their needs". The main difference between communists and anarchists are the former think the state can be used "for" the workers, and the latter thinks the state always will oppress the workers.

Back in the days of the HUAC, there were marches on DC where people were in an uproar about constitutional rights being trampled left and right. It turns out that these marches were supported by the communists (from Russia, with love, I guess).

They love to try to garner support for their revolutionary ideals using any means possible, and going after the constitutionalists is just another one of their tools.

First off, Bin Laden and crew have murdered thousands and disrupted the lives of millions of Americans. They have a goal increasing the upheaval in the US via economic havoc until there is a revolution, which will end the US reign as a worldwide power. That isn't an excuse. It is a moral imperative.

And Bubba-2 IS using this as a excuse to push his statist agenda. He could have never gotten the so-called "Patriot's Act" or the "Office of Homeland Security" (aka:"Office of Reich Security" passed. The fact that he had both already written out and ready to go the day after the WTC attack proves he had it all ready, and was just waiting for a excuse to spring it. It normally takes months if not years to form legislation and organizations like that, not days or weeks.

Secondly, calling Bush "Bubba-2" is equally ignorant.

No,it's equally accurate. He has increased the size of the budget, hired new federal employees, created whole new bureaucracies, offered amnesty and citizenship to millions of illegal aliens, etc, etc, etc. Some of that stuff the original Bubba couldn't have done in his wildest wet dreams. In fact, everything he has done since he has been in office is to the left of Bubba-1.

but the fact is that he pulled us out of Kyoto, put the kibosh on abortion funding overseas and had the US torpedo intentionally vague "family planning services" language in other UN efforts, he got the US out of the UN's small arms convention,

Bubba-1 "ended welfare as we know it",and a few other things, too. Granted,he did this under pressure from a GENUINE Republican congress, but he did it none the less.

he got us out of the obsolete treaty with Russia,

It was already dead. He got us out of nothing.

he pushed through a tax cut,

Yeah, and he is either going to have to find new tax money to pay for the expansion of the gooberment he is pushing,or he is going to have to make serious cuts in other budget areas. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch. The money will have to come from somewhere.

and for the first time in a century has the US government arguing that the 2nd amendment means what it says.

No,they are NOT! Bubba-2 and Janet Ashcroft made DAMN SURE the SC understood that their position was that although the 2nd Amendment was a individual right, the feral gooberment has the right to say who gets to enjoy them, and how. Emerson scared hell out of this statist, and he was terrified the SC would use it as a basis to overturn all feral gun laws. Go back and read those threads again. If you are saying this based only on what you have heard, you had a Bush-Bot pumping spin at you.

And I am leaving a bunch of things that he did out.

I don't doubt for a minute that he has done some positive things. He hasn't done anything that balances out against the bad things he is doing, though.

Has he compromised too much with the Democrats?

Of course not. He IS a Dim-o-crat.

That is a valid question. But it is nothing but propaganda to say that he is no different than the sleaze that inhabited the office before him.

Of course he's different. He doesn't seem to cheat on his wife, and I could shake his hand without having to count my fingers afterward. None the less,he IS governing to the left of Bubba-1

as either a headcase or a propagandist. Is that really how you want to come across?

Think what you like,but think.

Think what you like, but think
I always do.

I also have this habit, however, of refusing to even consider propaganda. I am of the mindset that, if I can recognize it as propaganda or hyperbole of such ridiculous magnitude, then to take it seriously is merely to encourage more propaganda and more hyperbole more fitting of Naderites. To wit:

He could have never gotten the so-called "Patriot's Act" or the "Office of Homeland Security" (aka:"Office of Reich Security" passed.
This immediately made me think "he is posting gibberish which does not merit serious response".

I would be happy to debate you on the points you tried to make. Just take the time and put the thought into what you are posting so as to make your post distinguishable from what I could find by trolling on the indymedia websites.

When you stop talking like a propagandist, then I will be glad to debate you.

Just because someone says they are defending the US Constitution does not mean that they really are.

That's certainly true. I think he IS,though.

Going for the emotional reaction? Weren't you earlier bemoaning the fact that emotions and not logic were ruling the day on this thread?

Peppering your posts with propaganda-like catchphrases is the reason these threads degenerate into emotional catfights.
