June 16, 2002 -- ON Sept. 11, 2001, a different kind of terrorist appeared. Every commercial airline pilot who took off in those early morning hours believed that, in the unlikely event that his plane would be hijacked, the terrorists would hold the passengers and crew as political hostages. Based on the record, it was a logical assumption.

Amen. They need to be killed. Their financiers, apologists, sympathizers and other enablers need to be killed too.
Five megatons over Mecca would be a good start.
Ultimately this is the core of the war on terrorism. And not only is this pragmatic statement correct, but we also need to cut off the money supply to the terrorists, and terrorist states. This means holding Saudi Arabia's feet to the fire. Oil rich, they may be, but they cannot be permitted to hold this over our heads.
bin Laden clearly stated his goals in past interviews: remove American influence from the Middle East, destroy Israel, and (by removing his perceived impediments to power) then obliterate the "Westernized" governments in "Muslim" countries including the House Of Saud.
In so doing, the Ummah will then arise and convert everywhere from Morroco to Indonesia to a new Muslim caliphate, in a new world best modeled by the Taliban.
But what's clear is that Islamist militants have become psychologically demented by their ongoing participation in wars (e.g., Chechnya, Palestine, Kashmir, Afghanistan and the Soviets), and have fully-integrated their resulting diseased bloodlust as a (twisted and evil) manfestation of "the joys of jihad."
Should they ever gain power, the Islamists would not settle down to a rational form of government. They would exercise that incipient bloodlust in an even more unrestrained fashion in the service of "jihad". History provides many recent models where bloodlust supercedes the original fanatical ideal, including Pol Pot, Hitler, Mao, and more to the point, the Taliban.
The above article is correct in stating that we can't quite get to the heart of what drives these murderers. But the reason for that is that the Islamists (including the Palestineans) have been made completely insane by their practice and support of murder, death, torture, and savagery. No one can understand insanity but the insane.
Since they have so removed themselves from the scope of rational, civilized society - and they can no longer be dealt with except on the savage level they've sunken to - then the only solution is that they must be killed.
Moral relativism again. "We have to 'understand' the terrorists in light of their society and customs blah blah blah..."
NO!
We should not accept such a transparent attempt to legitimize evil. For that is what it is. Period.
Religion of Peace® bump
This is why the current negotiations about a Palestinian state, Israel returning to pre-1967 lines, etc., are so ridiculous. It's all a sham, even statehood, further concessions, a wall won't keep the killers out. Peace is not what they're after.
When men or women smile, these men see sin.
I have often wondered how the 9/11 terrorists could have lived among us, enjoyed life here, been accepted (I remember that one of them in CA was frequently invited to his neighbors' backyard barbecues, etc.), had all the opportunities they wanted to live a good life - and responded by killing thousands of us and themselves as well.
Islam is a religion of rigid ritual controls, strict social heirarchy, and a "god" who is violent by nature. Christianity and Judaism are violent only when their principles are ignored; Islam is violent when it principles are practiced.
The only successful Islamic societies have been those that, for a brief while, were able to put their religion on a back burner. But these societies themselves were then overwhelmed by more fanatical Muslims, because this is the dynamic of Islam.
People who live in a world where a smile is a sin are pretty hard to deal with by any means: you can't win them over with niceness, but they're so essentially death-oriented that you can't scare them with death, either. All you can do is not trust them, and defend yourself.
Take a child expose them to Saudi TV from the age of three and there is nothing that any rational human being will ever be able to say to them, or do for them, to save them from themselves or others from their destruction.
The personality that will suicide bomb are varied, from true believers, to those that live in fear of an angry god and are threatened with hell if they don't obey, to those looking for financial security for their families, and fame for their families. These religious leaders pray on all types, while they stay safely out of harms way.
It is so hard to look at the intelligence and ingenuity of the Japanese and realize they were almost the same as fanatical Muslims at one time, they worshipped their "Sun God" the emperor. The only thing that saved the Japanese was our take over and control of their mindset, it was too bad we had to nuke them into submission, and hopefully that would not be needed in the mideast, but we for sure, need to take these people over and direct them for at least two decades or more. Ann Colter is spot on, take them over, their media, their education, their culture. If it doesn't work then nuke them off the planet.
We must (for our own protection) recognize the Islamist mindset as evil and completely insane, and well outside the scope of rational and civilized society.
But that also is the stopping point, for these is no "rationalizing" murderous Isalmist insanity, just as there would be no need to ask "why" in defending ourselves from an axe-wielding psychopathic serial killer. It is a sick and consuming bloodlust that drives them, with reasons (the whys) offered merely as trivial afterthoughts.
Murderous bloodlust does not succumb to reason, especially when the psychopathic killer believes it is for god.
If Im not mistaken, the Japanese logic that suicide=salvation was reserved for the samurai class.
In Islam, suicide=salvation is being cultivated as every individuals personal logic.
It seems to me that Islam is significantly more insidious.
Islam is so appealing to a certain type of person because it allows them a certain type of religiousity while, not only condoning their rage, but approving, justifying, controlling, and directing it. There is more rage in kids than anyone likes to admit or look at, it's very appealing to kids to have someone show them how to direct and control their rage, without having to give rage up. Rage can be addictive. Just listen to some heavy metal lyrics sometime, Korn, Mushroomhead, Disturbed...etc.
