Of course there are incidences of abuse in Protestant churches. All pastors are human and all humans sin. The question is and alway has been, in my mind, how do these people respond to this problem? Do they perpetuate a coverup, do they ignore it, or do they treat it in a Biblical way and admit their sin, repent and beg God's grace and forgiveness? I believe that God is refining and purifying His church in preparation for the trying times ahead.If these people are not held accountable in this life, they will surely be held accountable in the next life, and in case we forget, ALL sin is equal in the eyes of God.

This horrible behavior can be found in any denomination or organization and members should remove them ASAP when identified, but we are only hearing about the bad. There are a lot of good people out here. First the boy scouts were attacked and then the Catholics. Will Baptists or the YMCA be next? A lot of noise is being made about both. We can stand together and support each other or let the Christian haters divide and destroy us. Our choice.

And here's the opportunity not to respond in kind. The Body of Christ in all its forms needs to stand together against the onslaught of sin, corruption, and glee of the press to overcome these problems. The BuffyT's of the world need to start to understand that. We cannot be drawn into the finger pointing with them.

So, what is the point? Everybody does it so it is alright? I don't believe anyone has accused the Catholic's of being the only denomination with sin among the Clergy. THe anger is over how people in high places who could have purged the church of the abusers, chose instead to shift the perp to other places where the innocent and unsuspecting were easy new victims.

The bull session in Dallas, has failed to properly address the problem. One strike should be retroactive all the way beck to the beginning of the Church. Any still alive regardless of rank or status, should be removed from the Priesthood. They should be forgiven if they have truly repented and changed their ways and remain in the church as lay members, but to remain in the heiarchy and leadership in any form is an insult to their victims and the members in general.

I lost my posting priviliges for three days a while back for being accused of bashing Religion. I hope that it is obvious to every fair minded person that I am not bashing Religion-I am bashing those who are trashing religion.

Few expect Cleric's of any religion to be perfect, they too after all are human-we just expect them to set the example. If they are too weak to set a proper example, we just expect them to admit it and demote themselves to the ranks of us who are unworthy to lead, but can recognize a true leader whom we seek to be as much like as we can.

What was the point of your rant? This happens everywhere as I am sure you know, including all Churches, synagogues, and mosques, and in the world of business and politics.
It is a problem everywhere, certainly not just in the Catholic Church.
