This whole situation is about political power and money. Years ago, North Carolina, and several other states signed an agreement to take on nuclear waste for a designated period of time, after which the new waste would shift to a site in another state. The NC legislature has blocked funding a site, and even the site proposed or discussed was a mile or so from the SC border on a major watershed that heads into Myrtle Beach. So, the Feds and other states have all reneged on their commitments, yet SC is being told to shut up and take the hazardous waste. I disagree with Hodges on many things but this BS has to stop.
