I certainly didn't support the Education deal and you didn't see any posts from me then asking people to call to get Senators to vote yes! I pick my battles and Education was not one of them!
Besides I would bet you donate!
I know that many charities, good ones that never had to ask for funds before, are hurting today. James Dobson's, Focus on Family is hurting, down from last year, the first time in their over 30 year history, and other BIG charities and churches are hurting. These are strange days. At the rate you're going, you should reach FR's fundraising goal in less than 2 weeks. That's awesome.
Tell em GRRRRR is gettin' your six!
GRRRRRRRollin it up for the USA
I like the ostrich.
(and my donation has already been mailed)
GRRRRRRRollin'
Goodness, imVho it's enough already.
He's going to have to change career fields it looks like. The two-way industry is being killed by predatory cell companies buying up shops and frequencies. They don't want the techs or field engineers. Which leaves them you know what out of luck.
THe few buck is what we saved by switching off AOL.
For those who love this Freepin'fantabulous site, but just don't have the means to help --- I understand. But there is a painless way to help that is so easy that I wish I could shout it from the housetop.
I am a monthly and a dollar/dayer. But I also am a 'loose changer'. At the end of each week I take all of the change out of my wallet. I count out some quarters, a couple or so dimes, nickles and pennies and put it back in said wallet. The rest goes into a bag, and you'd be surprised just how that change adds up. At the end of the 3 months, it usually comes to about $20+.
For those who can't give a lump sum at a given time, this loose change method is painless. Most people can afford to part with $2 a week in change. I wish this idea could take hold.
I love and appreciate all of you and your dedication during the Freepathons. A pox on all those who gave you grief!
I love FreeRepublic.com and have met many FReepers and made some great friends here. I am sad to say that I have not been too happy reading some of the other comments on this thread, not only yours. If some people can't see their way clear to send in a donation, for whatever reason, they shouldn't be belittled as "FReeploaders". And those who complain about the thread spam are (from my vantage point) doing so in private communications, keeping their complaints off the public forum. I've read a lot of threads, all of which have at least one "Please donate" message; and I've yet to see a public complaint or insult to the poster of the "donate" message.
Believe me, I know how frustrating it can be to try and do a good thing for the benefit of a lot of people, and not get much $$ help. The Patriots Rally that the DC Chapter organized in April was paid for by a very few generous people; but even the folks who didn't (or couldn't) put money into the kitty were welcomed at the Rally.
My mom told me as her mom told her (and as I've told my kids) that you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. I think she's right ( and correct, too).
Thanks for all you do for Free Republic.com, BadJoe.
However at the same time we were advised to not be so professional that we were sterile.
If you haven't read any of the attacks , you just missed the threads with it on. They were not private. And the private ones were vicious.
All are welcome here . They just are not welcome to bitch.
Don't know what I'd do w/o Free Republic.
Don't know what I'd do w/o Free Republic.
Well now; in the first place that was no chick, let alone a chicken...it was a juvenile ostrich hen...and
my comments were in the finest tradition of Free Republic...
the clarification of issues and events.
Now, rather than repeat myself I will also not bitch about the fact that WImom has now replaced her juvenile ostrich with an EMU and an animated one no less.
