The Freepathons are hard work for those of us who work the threads and the incoming donations. When donations come in it is our reward, no matter how small they are. We spend our time thanking the donor, posting amongst our selves, etc. When it gets quiet and hours go by without any incoming donations it gets very frustrating.

So we go out and carpet bomb the threads to create more incoming donations.Here is where the problem starts. If you don't like our appeals, just scroll past them or DONATE. The sooner we reach or goal the sooner the bombs go away. Yesterday your Freepathon team took an amazing amount of abuse, on other threads and via Freepmail. Without this team there would not be this forum for your enjoyment. If you were to read the comments that come in from truely poor Freepers and Lurkers it would make you cry and hang your head in shame. There is no obligation to donate. You all are welcome here. BUT there is an obligation not to bitch about it. Attacking our fundraising team on any thread or via Freepmail will earn you a time out. I want it stopped NOW.

I personally do not give a damn about your pissy assed ego whining about how you can't afford to help. Read all you want. Post all you want. But shut the hell up when it comes to the team and the fundraising efforts. Calling the team moochers and worse on any thread, or sending them nasty Freepmails will get you forever banned.

We do not mind that you ride in our boat. We do not mind that you do not help row. But if you insist on dragging your feet in the water, Get the hell out of our boat.

Why not post an 'abuse thread'? Take all the abusive replies, both public and FReepmail, and post them there for all to see in one central location. That would raise the sympathy level, I am quite sure.

And maybe some of us "Freepers" should stop and think about the ones that write to you and really, really love FR, but honestly cannot afford to donate.

I am not picking on the fundraisers; I understand the need and think it's a good idea. But I just don't get why post a thread (that seems to be basically a flame to unnamed people) needed to be written to defend something that doesn't need defending.

I mean, I would understand a thread about the Bush Trashers (TM) on FR that seems to contradict an existing policy written here

I think it would not be right to "award" donating members with a star or something like that on their profile side. Emagine an retired member, living by only a few dollars donates a dollar or two, and another member, young still earning good money gives $100. What donation is more worth???! So please no award system for donations, that's absolutely wrong.

EiIther one of them is worth more than NO donation, which is what the majority of Freepers seem to be doing.

Maybe it would or would not be a good idea to have an indication of the amount donated. But certainly those who make ANY donation should receive some type of recognition, as well as the thanks of the majority of our more penurious (shall we say "cheap"?) Freepers.

Or like Ostrich.....

Barbecued Ostrich

2 ts Salt
Black pepper
2 ts Dry mustard
6 (2 1/2- to 3-ounce) ostrich fillet steaks
1 Clove garlic, chopped
1/2 c Vinegar or lemon juice
1 ts Grated lemon zest
2 ts Sugar
1/2 c Oil

Mix salt, pepper to taste and mustard in bowl.
Rub mixture into steaks. Place meat in dish.
Mix garlic, vinegar, lemon zest, sugar and oil
in separate bowl. Pour over meat and let
marinate 4 hours, turning every hour.

Grill steaks to desired doneness on barbecue
or stove-top grill, basting with sauce.

Makes 6 servings.
