GRACE: Well Tom, I would have to agree with you. If police are searching the area with helicopters looking for this guy, that leads me to think that he's got some very important information that they want.

Tom Smart, message to the kidnapper tonight, what do you have to say?

As for Klaas' "intrusion;" Can YOU think of a reason why people without something to hide would refuse to work with a sketch artist with a proven record of helping capture fugitives? Can you honestly tell me you wouldn't like to know the answer to that question? And if an answer isn't forthcoming, wouldn't you want someone "obnoxious" to demand one?

The police are now saying that the little sister did not see enough to identify the kidnapper. I agree that the family is acting strange, however; I still think Marc Klaas needs to go home and mind his own business.

Think you might be on to something. The uncle's seemingly bizaare comments might have been calculated to help the girl. The notion being that if the perepetrator can be humored into thinking that the family is understanding of his motives (a "benevolent" attraction to Elizabeth) he might be more likely to spare her. I don't agree with this mistaken line of thinking, but it might explain why he said it. It is understandable that the family might grasp at straws to save her. Unfortunately, the kidnapper's motives are unlikely to be based on anything resembling a wholesome attaction to Elizabeth.

Yes, the polygraph exams probably dug into life style issues (there's that word again) to try to determine any predisposition toward a crime of this type. Those examined undoubtedly felt their privacy had been invaded but, under the circumstances, had no choice but to submit.

Nancy is much brighter and more incisive than cream puff-tossing Larry.

One or more of the family are likely to be members of FR.

"No, why should we?"

Because that's what the innocent Ramsays did.

No need to apologize for the collective fascination with a mystery. And this one is really a doozy. Since this is real life, any compassionate person feels genuine concern and holds fervent hopes for the girl's safe recovery. But the need to solve a mystery remains.

Polygamy has not been an accepted part of Mormon belief or practice for a very long while.

Well, the one good aspect of the family member scenario is that Elizabeth is likely to still be alive....I hope.

Hire a PR guy, a detective, and, of course, a lawyer.

This is just somebody who actually likes Elizabeth.

This sounds much too specific to be taken as literal knowledge. More likely it's a strategic ploy calculated to help the girl.

I really don't think Klass rally "dissed" anyone. He rather straightforwardly related his rebuff by the brother Smart.

I saw no indication that Klass in any way supported the Van Damm's swinging and doping lifestyle. He simply supported their efforts to achieve the safe return of their daughter who was discovered murdered weeks later. If asked today I'm sure he would agree that their lifestyle contributed to the vulnerablility of their daughter. Of course, that did not give anyone license to abduct and kill her.

Nancy is much brighter and more incisive than cream puff-tossing Larry.

I noticed that Larry was scheduled to be back on LKL last night but instead they had Nancy Grace host again in another panel discussion of the Elizabeth Smart case. Most likely CNN saw their ratings zoom during the panel discussion hosted by Nancy the night before and told Larry to stay on vacation a while longer. Knowing Larry, he isn't enjoying his "vacation" right now. He must be sweating bullets over Nancy boosting the ratings of his show....while he was absent.

Better a Polygamist who doesn't Polyg,
Than a Monogamist who doesn't Monog.

I think---I hope he was trying to say that it's wonderful how the community has rallied behind the family.

I didn't hear the comment about Elizabeth not liking boys, but I did hear the father go on and on about how his daughter was such an angel. It had a strong "the lady dost protest too much, methinks" quality to it.

I don't think there's anything wrong in this per se. If someone had asked my dad about me he would've said I was an angel. Elizabeth is probably gone for good. Even if she's found alive after what she's been through she will not be the same girl. Something about THIS story & family doesn't feel right but it's pefectly normal for most parents to think only the best of their children especially if all they have is a memory.

BTW, I'm Catholic so I know about mindless bashing. 80% of the Mormon religion is too outlandish for me but I've got to say that the Mormons I've met have been nice people with enviable happy family lives.
