GRACE: Well Tom, I would have to agree with you. If police are searching the area with helicopters looking for this guy, that leads me to think that he's got some very important information that they want.
Tom Smart, message to the kidnapper tonight, what do you have to say?

Ashleigh Banfield talked to one of the reporters for the newspaper that broke the story this morning that the extended family was being looked at and about the cut screen from the inside. They have another big story for tomorrow, that he only hinted at. It is about details concerning the room from where Elizabeth was taken and the 9 nine year old's story (the lighting and if she could have seen anything etc.). This reporter said the girls have their own rooms, but were sharing a room that evening. I guess details to come in the morning or maybe late tonight. O'reilly says the police leak these details to put the squeeze on the family or who their are suspecting.

Pretty disgusting to use a situation like this as an excuse to belittle someone's religion. I doubt any Mormon would have made a comment like that about your religion if this was happening you. For shame.

Strange that the perp didn't try to kidnap both girls. Also why would he trust Elizabeth's sister to keep her mouth shut for a long time after he left the room?

Thanks, I'm trying! In spite of all the goofy stuff that keeps popping up on these threads, there are also a lot of interesting perspectives and information being shared. The more we can steer the threads in that direction, the more we'll all learn from the process. Putting heads together is a worthwhile activity, IMHO.

I am wondering if the police may think Edmunds is involved with whichever extended family member they may suspect. Maybe, he was hired by that person. He has outstanding warrants, and the police said he has changed his license plates on that car, but they keep saying he's not a suspect. I think they are downplaying it to get him to come forward. I really don't know, the whole story is strange.

One interesting fact is that the kidnapper allowed Elizabeth to go back into her room to get her shoes. This strikes me as strange.

It's much harder to handle two people, than just one when abducting them. One you can keep control of, two would add problems. And I have heard varying accounts about the little sister, one is that the perp didn't realize she was in the room, and that he threatened Elizabeth that he would kill her and her family if she made any noise. There's so many stories and information and misdirection out there right now, it can be hard to know exactly what happened.

Nice to hear that. I don't do TV during the week, so I haven't seen any of the TV interviews since the ones last weekend (I live in NYC during the week, and don't have a TV in my apartment since I'd rarely use it). Of course, I've heard a great deal about the TV interviews on these threads, but I hadn't heard that piece of information. It's not a good sign that mention of real information is being squeezed off these threads by the avalanche of "Geez, can you believe how weird that guy is, he's got to be hiding something" posts.

The only thing is that Edmunds doesn't fit the physical description of the abductor. He is 6'2" and 235 pounds, the abductor is decribed as 5'8" and medium build. It is a true puzzle, hopefully some of the pieces are falling into place, and the police are closer to finding Elizabeth.

Just heard that the uncle, Tom Smart, was given ANOTHER (a second) polygraph. (Saw the interview yesterday on Larry King, and he did sure act strange.)

I am wondering if Edmonds has the girl now, but the abducter was the "extended family member" being hinted at. Was Edmond's the "get away" driver? I am wondering if somehow the puzzle will come together with Edmonds being involved in some way. Maybe there is not a lone abducter, but more than one involved.

I recall that the home is on the market. Does it possibly have a lockbox where a key could be obtained and copied?

Klaas (on Hardball tonight)accused him (Tom Smart) of being involved by saying (as close to a quote as I can get from memory)"It's not the first time me and (sketch artist) have had the door slammed in our face. One time (or "the last time") was the Susan Smith case".
That's as close to accusing Tom Smart of killing the girl that I've heard on TV so far.
To: GovernmentShrinker
Every person I talked with today mentioned the Smart kidnapping. After the third conversation, I asked why this case was so interesting. Some said because it hit every parent where they are most vulnerable, some said because it was on t.v. all the time and thus unavoidable.
Do you think there's a collective 'need' to have a national mystery? That this began with O.J. - the classic whodunnit, the Bronco chase, etc. - then to Jon Benet - then to Chandra - now Elizabeth Smart. In other words, are we playing real life Clue?
Please understand that I am in NO WAY minimizing the serious situation; but in the absence of the ability to DO something, perhaps there are wider psychological implications that we can discuss.

More than likely Edmunds was following that milk truck because of a mild case of road rage. That happens all the time.

That's the first I've heard that....I thought the two girls had been sharing a room for several weeks because Elizabeth's room was being remodeled....if what you say is true...then someone had to know that she was going to be in Mary's room that night.

ut I always believed in the innocence of the Ramseys (not too many of us out there) I'm the other person in the USA who doesn't think John or Patsy killed JonBenet, but it took awhile for me to get clear on that. Very easy to believe them guilty.
And same thing in this case. Very easy for all of us here to say, "there's something fishy," which there is, and jump to conclusion that Elizabeth's father or uncle might be the perp. However, the Ramseys often made sense and these people are all over the place with their stories. I cannot let them off the hook just yet.
