Sometimes I'm shocked that the Baptists will actually stand up and say these things.
How long before the pastor is forced to apologize?

What if he's speaking the truth? I'm not saying that I know that Mohammed had a 9 year old wife, but I will agree with his point that we are not all serving the same god. My God is the one true God, and is not the same god that would inspire the kind of hatred and destruction that we've seen from the followers of Mohammed.

They should get used to it. Not much different than what is said about Christianity in many of our finer higher learning institutions.

He has nothing to apologize for. Speaking the truth is all he has done and it is still protected by the constitution.

Tough luck, according to a piece on tonight's Special Report showing a segment from Saudi TV, there was a three year old girl saying the koran calls Jews pigs and apes.

Hodan Hassan, a spokeswoman for the Washington-based Council for American-Islamic Relations, said Vines' comments were divisive and inaccurate.

Islam is a false religion, and more cult like.

The pastor sounds fairly right on the money, though someone should tell him that "Allah" is just the Arabic equivalent of the English "God" or the French "Dieu". Arab Christians, who pray to the All-Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, including my Patriarch, call Him "Allah" when praying in their native language.

The question, "Is the Christian Allah is the same as the Mohammeden Allah?" is on the same order the question of whether the Christian God is the same as the Unitarian God. If a Christian wishes to be charitable, he may say "yes, but the others (be it Muslim or Unitarian) have a false understaning of Him". If one wishes to be strict, one must say "no".

Were the Muslim leaders shocked because what he said was wrong, or were they shocked because someone was finally telling the truth about their religion?

"This kind of hate-filled rhetoric is very shocking," Hassan said.

It sounds shocking to the Muslims because they are usually the ones spouting "hate-filled rhetoric". I guess Hassan can't handle the truth.

Mohammed was betrothed to his second/third (the preacher was wrong to say "last") wife when little Aisha was six, consummated at age nine. There are records of Mohammed allowing her to play with dolls, though this is a violation of "no graven images" law. The shi'ites of Iran under the Ayatollah appear to believe this early marriage, as they made marriage legal for a nine year old girl. Mohammed's first wife was Kadjidah, a wealthy older widow who didn't appear to encourage polygamy in her younger, dependent husband. AFter her death, Mohammed married twelve or more wives and had numerous concubines.

One of these concubines, a Coptic Christian, bore him his only son Ibrahim, who died despite being a healthy baby. The birth of a son so overjoyed Mohammed that the other women were wildly jealous.

I doubt this fellow recants. Why should he? What he might fear is a "fatwah" of violent punishment from our Islamic neighbors who regard such exercises of free speech to be a violation of shariya, Islamic law.

Americans need to read the Koran, the Sunnah, and the Al-Hadish.

The more you read, the worse it gets. The spread of Islam is very, very bad news for America.

The peaceful quotes from Muslims are all from the early career of Mohammed, the "Mecca Mohammed" when he had no army and no power. Later, when powerful and commanding his bands of raiders, he became the "Medina Mohammed" and the Koran records his two faces. Basically, with no sword in his hand, he was a peaceful guy...

Islam is a cult of hate, murder, and a stupifyingly bizarre take on human sexuality.

...Unveiling Islam, which was written by two former Muslims who are professors at conservative Baptist theological schools. Authors Ergun Caner, an assistant professor at Criswell College in Dallas, and Emir Caner, an assistant professor at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C.

Ergun and Emir had better keep a low profile. Apostasy is a capital offense under Islam.

Hassan should hear what I have to say about his people. Decorum, and admin. moderator, prevent me from saying what I truly think about them. Why did the article all of a sudden veer left into the land of homosexuality, and then meander off into the subject of conversions by Baptists? The writer of the article should have titled it "Baptist Bashing".

Rev. Vines will never apologize for speaking the truth. If he did, the SBC would lose people like me.

Preach it, Rev Vines!

"Today, people are saying all religions are the same," Vines said. "They would have us believe Islam is just as good as Christianity. But I'm here to tell you, ladies and gentlemen, that Islam is not as good as Christianity. Christianity was founded by the virgin-born Lord Jesus Christ. Islam was founded by Muhammad, a demon-possessed pedophile who had 12 wives and his last one was a 9-year-old girl."

Classic!

Is there a connection between Islam and the ancient Babylonian religion of King Nebacanezer?

"This kind of hate-filled rhetoric is very shocking," Hassan said. "It is especially surprising to see it coming from someone of that stature making such a statement concerning a religion that is practiced by one-fifth of the world's population."

Maybe the good folks at CAIR would like to make a deal (they are, after all, from the great tradition of deal-making in the bazar).

As of next Monday, all mullahs, imams, will cease making inciteful statements about Jews, Christians, Americans. In return, Christians, Jews and Americans will do likewise.

Independent monitors at FreeRepublic will be in place. If any party breaks the deal, the deal is off. Takers? CAIR, are you on?

As for statistics, Christianity has the MOST followers. Following muslim reasoning, that would earn Christianity high credibility and status. Why aren't they according same? Truth is, with muslims, it is all a one way deal. They are always right, always victims.
