How many times have we heard (here also): "but people are the same everywhere!"? Take my word, this naive notion is uniquely American, folks. We feed such nonsense to our children from kindergarten through college and let them grow up to become naive women who marry foreign barbarians only to wake up in Riyadh wearing burkhas!

Indeed. In my travels, I've found that this is absolutely NOT true. However, as part of this story implies, my observance is that people from everywhere can be the same, in a particular somewhere.

WHAT TO EXPECT AND CONSIDER

Quality of Life

You will live in a desert
have NO rights whatsoever
have to put up with slavery while your husband f$%^s goats, sheep and camels on your 'days off'
can expect to be beaten severely if you dont dress up in black robes in a hellhole desert
finally, kiss your car goodbye, FOREVER.

"Many newly married couples move in with the groom's parents, in a sprawling villa which may house several other siblings and their wives and families."

If all else fails.....this would deifinately be the 'deal-breaker' here....LOL.

"..."but people are the same everywhere!"? "

All people have the same basic needs, ie. food, shelter, whatever, but, they differ in their various belief systems and environment. And, these belief systems can be very different.

"That book will scare the socks off of *any* woman with more than two brain cells. While I don't feel that sympathetic either, the problem is that women at universities, especially, are *courted* by these guys. They find them charming, marry them before seeing the "home country" first hand, and don't even think what's going to happen when their husband wants to go back with kids in tow. "

Those are very revealing statements about the modern women at these universities. It backs up my own personal belief that these women do not have more than two brain cells.

Why would you think all Muslims are intolerant? You should be more open minded.

My cousin made that mistake. She married an Iranian Muslim, and went to Iran with him, but she got tired of that garbage in a hurry, and was able to leave Iran and come back to California, a little wiser.

Expatriates who have lived and worked for years in the Kingdom may never meet the
wife of a close Saudi friend and, according to custom,
should never so much as inquire about her health.

Now there is a warm, congenial kind of place to live... (yeah, that's sarcasm)

Romance...and they myth of the arab Sheik on his white charger taking the American women
off to her dream palace in the exotic desert oasis kingdom....

And then her alarm went off......

Her daddy tried to warn her...but she went off to college & watches Oprah.....and knows better than he...

And politicans have been bought off with petrol graff....and arent in any position to 'rock the boat' (it's hard to rock the boat when you are on your knees)

They will never cross the Saudi money machine.....

If you can find Christ among the demonic princes...you do well.....

imo
