During the 8 years of Clinton, not a peep. Suddenly this Roush woman is on every news and cable show transmitting programming. Yesterday she was on two shows at the same time.
The anti-Saudi campaign continues as the media, and now Congress, pander to the Oprah crowd.

In one interview, I heard one of these women say that she was told the embassy couldn't help her because it had to remain 'neutral', as in, not representing US interests over any others. Why are American tax payers paying for this?

Any American non-Muslim-by-birth woman stupid enough to bed down with one of those camel-herders has only herself to blame for the consequences. They should stop wasiting tax-payer time with their dumb complaints. What did they expect, a Billy Graham in bedsheets, when they married one of these guys?
As for Muslim women in the U.S. who were born into that faith, they have my sympathy. Perhaps they should consider becoming Christians or Jews where such problems are less frequent. At least they can appear in Temple or church along with their husbands.

A video of Monica's testimony was presented at the hearing. She related the story of how she brought her daughter and son to the U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia to seek help and was told by the staff that they could not help her. She refused to leave, fearing Saudi police might arrest her. The embassy had two marines force her to leave, she said. Any American citizen expecting any assistance from any US Embassy or Consulate anywhere will be disappointed. There are countless stories like this one, of innocent American citizens in trouble abroad being denied help or meaningful advice from the American Embassy/Consulate.
I have no idea what Consulates do besides rubber stamping terrorist's visas, but they are certainly not in the business of helping US Citizens.
Furthermore, due to diplomatic agreement, consulates are staffed by large proportions of third party nationals, with no real interest or stake in the USA beyond sucking up a paycheck for sleeping on the job. It is hard to find anybody helpful in a US Consulate.
I had many dealings with the US Consulate in Frankfurt. They would often respond to my questions by simply hanging up the telephone.

All I can say is they shouldn't have married the sorry bastards in the first place instead of their own kind. Now they want to moan and groan to the US government about their stupid choices?
