Something the pro-legalization cadre will ignore. After all, it was "only" a trick-or-treater whose right to play in the neighborhood gets trumped by the adult's right to recreational poisons.

Name me a single town or county in this entire country where the drug war has made it impossible to buy methamphetamines.

So what about the tens of thousands of violent beatings administered by drunk people in this country, as well?

Only 25 years?? This moron will be back on the streets in 5 to 7 years- if I were this kid's father, I would make sure he never had a chance to beat up another 12 year old (and I don't joke about these things).

Halloween is an evil day, which is why we don't give it any notice. It's too weird. Should be outlawed in public schools.

What the hell is your point? Name me a town or county in the entire country that laws against murder has made murder impossible. Sorry friend your brain is fried.

Because for good or ill alcohol is a legal intoxicant. Tell me why should we add a never ending list of mind altering substances to the list? If you can't get your kicks on Champaign then use anything you can get your hands on but don't whine when you are busted.

"This defendant is a poster child against the argument for drugs being legalized," Superior Court Judge Stephen Ashworth said. "Not that he's not responsible. But if it wasn't for drugs, this never would have happened."

Liberty applies to yourself only. You haven't the liberty to put others in danger.

You know, there is a difference between the taking of drugs (vice) and the actions committed while under the influence (crime).

I think this guy is a scumbag and deserves what he gets for huring someone else.

But despite prohibition, he apparantly had no problem getting what he wanted.

And I can think of oh say, a few thousand instances where alcohol caused people to do dumb, even dangerous things. Things that get people killed all the time. Things like drunk driving, getting into fights while drunk, etc...

A while back, Carrie Nation and her temperence buddies decided if they just made alcohol illegal, all those problems would just -poof- go away. They didn't and we still had all the problems of alcohol, plus the problems of prohibition. Things like Al Capone and gang wars, things like the Gun Control Act of '32 that infringe upon freedom until this day.

Aint no teacher like history.
