VICTORVILLE, Calif. (AP) - A man described by a judge as "an evil monster" was sentenced to 25 years in prison for using a baseball bat, metal pipe and golf club to attack a 12-year-old Halloween trick-or-treater on his doorstep.

You're talking about process again. I didn't ask how laws are passed. I asked by what measure does one go about determining which activities should be prohibited? Do they choose suggestions out of a hat? Do they flip coins?
The people of the state, individually can infringe upon the rights of others? If not, how do they confer this power upon the state?
Your insistence upon the use of "respectively" is specious since all governmental power flows from the people. The feds have no powers that weren't first posessed by the people nor do the States.
Really?
The state of Virginia had stringent anti-emancipation laws. The slaves he owned were primarily from the estate of his wife's father, and were considered chattels of a that estate. Jefferson acquired them only by accepting the debts that went along with them, and the interests of the estate's creditors in them.
There's much more.
You're talking about process again. I didn't ask how laws are passed. I asked by what measure does one go about determining which activities should be prohibited? Do they pick suggestions out of a hat? Flip coins? Throw darts against the wall while blindfolded? Examine position of the stars?
I guess, we don't really need states or communities.. Everyone should just simply do as they please.
Correct.. We vote and decide on both the state and local level.
Not in front of the cameras. Here in California, state level hearings are aired and people are free to watch them as closely as they wish, if they can't attend personally.
If you have something valuable to say regarding a proposed piece of legislation, contact your legislator.
You didn't answer my question.
It confers your right to vote on electors in Presidential races. Did you think that electors grew in the woods like mushrooms?
Sure I did. Some rights are conferred upon individuals by the public, some aren't.
Depends on the right at issue.
If you have no right to infringe upon anyone elses rights, then how can you confer such powers to the state which derives its powers from you?
Is it your opinion that your right to governance is granted by someone?
Why can't everyone simply do as they please?
That's the Libertarian way, isn't it?
I will not answer until you answer my question first. Your indication that you find the idea of everyone being able to "do whatever they want" is proof that you find infringments upon the rights of others (by people doing "whatever they want") abhorrant.
Answer my questions to you first. We are in agreement that people should not run around doing whatever they want.
Now tell me how you can confer powers to the state that you do not first posess.
I mean, states basically mean nothing.. everyone should just do whatever..
States have the power to do certain things. Do I believe there should be traffic lights? Yes. Do they violate rights? Not really. They merely automate that which would be required under the common law.
Have you ever been to any rural towns? I have. I've been to places so rural that there were almost no signs or traffic lights anywhere and there was ONE sheriff and a deputy for the entire town. How did people determine whose turn it was to proceed through intersections with no traffic signs or lights?
Speed limits are another matter. I oppose them and believe they violate rights.
If states can regulate the speed you drive then can they also regulate the number of times you chew your food before swallowing?
We do have the power.. We vote and we are heard.
The "state" is a reflection of the people.. hence: to the states and the people "respectively"
BTW, Think of me in my po dunk town while you are at Level. :(
Any one special DJ'ing tonight?
I suppose the people (collectively) decided...
