Hey, Grampa Dave and snopercod! A trip down memory lane for me from last year watching the Cali mess unfold. As long as this is a fundraising thread, you two guys are proof positive why FR is valuable.

Let me explain. I work as a wall street macroeconomist. Last year I was told by my company to figure out what was going on in California, and I did, with the help of you two guys and the crack reporting squad at FR. You guys are the best, and thanks for the help. By the way, everyone on Wall Street knows that it was the recession that solved the power crisis. I think the only reason that the White House doesn't get the message out is they want to reserve the right to say that it was the FERC power caps which did it.

Many years ago my wife and I toured the Great Lakes. We did drive around Lake Michigan, although we stopped overnight at various places -- Indiana Dunes was one, Chicago another. While driving through Upper Pennisula we were amazed how few cars we saw. Miles and miles without another car. Awfully hot that year. 105-110 degrees.
