Actually, this is the first day since a week ago Sunday that it has not been over 90 by noon. We hit a 100 twice in this last heat spell. The Napa Valley is weird re high temps. This time of the year until maybe early November, the hottest temp of the day is often between 5 and 7 pm.

Our weather is one of the best kept secrets in the world. We have more sunny days than San Diego and often our winter days are milder with less heat days. A few days or like this past heat wave of just over a week is norma, then we will have cool weather for a week or so. At night we get the coastal breezes and cool down even after a hot day to the high 50's/low 60's at night. Last night it was down to 54 after hitting 90 in the early pm.

The double barrel killer days where the heat is over 90 and the humidity is over 90 can be counted one hand each year. That usually occurs when a Mexican Hurricane sends its heat and moisture up here in our late summer or Indian Summer days.

We can leave here and it will be like 70 and drive 41 miles SSE to where our son's and his family lives in the summer, and it will be over 100 degrees. Similiar results when you go north or east in the summer.

I bought an American made flag and flag staff from Wal Mart two weeks ago for Memorial Day, Flag Day, the 4th and to stop my grand daughter from saying "Papa where is your flag!"

She lives in a new development and just about everyone flies an American Flag outside. We had small ones, window stickers and some Early American Art Flags that hang in our windows. However, those were not flags to her. After 9/11, we could not buy a flag here until a few months ago. Then the flags were ChiCom flags, and that won't fly at our house.

So I have this beautiful 4 X about 8 foot flag with its own pole. I can see it outside my office window as I sit down to access Free Republic. That was not an accident.
