I agree with you on the "defensive" attitude of many Americans. No need for that. I have spoken to many Mexicans in Mexico who would love to be part of the US. I would have no problem with that as long as the free market could be unleashed down there.

I've always thought we should take Baja. Mainland Mexico provides very little by way of utilities to the peninsula, instead I dare say all modern services come from San Diego. (and their untreated sewage flows right back into the good ol' USA). It would help create a more natural water border and I'm sure the people would end up much better off... Great fishing down there! Let's buy it for say mabbe $50 million? (they owe US for their latest bailout)

I say that all of Mexico proper is rightfully "ours", meaning the good ole' USA. We defeated them over 150 years ago and luckily for them we let them have a country. We should treat this like we treated the "Zimmerman Telegram" and give them a rebuke.

Nice thought, but upon reflection, who really wants Mexico? I mean, their national sport is soccer. That would be a corrupting influence upon American society.
