Mexico stole the land in a war by killing off the natives 450 years ago.
The U.S. acquired the land in a war with Mexico 150 years ago.
Mexican logic now concludes the land belongs to them.
Go figure.

About 8 years ago I was chatting with a Mexican immigrant and he said something to the effect that the Mexicans were going to take over simply because of their increasing population. I then asked him what they were going to do with California, turn it into a shithole like the one they left? He thought for awhile but could come up with no answer and he slowly walked away.

Who the heck needed a poll to know this? Just walk down the street and start asking......

As I recall, it was just a few years ago hereon when I was laughed and derided very . . . cheekily . . . . for the very idea that Mexicans would ever be involved in any kind of invasion en mass of the U.S. Southwest.
I've known personally of plans, including weapons caches, toward that end for at least 30 years. I don't recall any of those connections at this point--they came via my library work at my university. But they were considered very reliable then.
I'm sorry to see increasing evidence that my sense was rather accurate.

In my area this attitude of an open border by Mexicans is fairly prevalent. The Mexicans "commute" to the U.S. for their work week and go back across the river for the weekend. Almost any given day of the week I can walk out my front door and count about half a dozen illegals mowing lawns, cleaning houses, etc. They insist on being paid in cash so there is no paper trail. They sleep in their trucks out in the country. This goes on all over Texas, and I would suppose happens in Arizona and California too. Of course, if people didn't employ them illegally to begin with we wouldn't have this problem. Law enforcement turns a blind eye.

"There is obviously a large and significant gap between the attitudes of Americans and Mexicans," Yeah, so what?? I am not sacrificing the future of my country just so Zogby can report that this "gap" has been closed. You wanna close a gap? How 'bout closing that gap on the border down there? There's a gap that needs to be closed, not my "attitude"

Mexicans Say Southwest U.S. Belongs to ThemJames Knox Polk would not agree with them!

Zogby's poll found that 58 percent of Mexicans agree with the statement, "the territory of the United States' Southwest rightfully belongs to Mexico." I'm sure if we took a poll of the Comanche, Caddo, Kiowa, Lipan Apache, Mescalero Apache, Navajo, Hopis, Tarankawa and other indigenous Amerinds they would agree that the Southwestern United States belongs to them.

Ulysses S. Grant believed our war with Mexico was an unjust use of force, by a greater power against a weaker one, for the sole purpose of territorial gain.
But when war was declared against Mexico, he did his duty and served with enthusiasm and heroism.
Grant also wrote that Santa Ana's signature of a treaty ceding territory was gained under duress. But he seemed to believe that America's payment of a handsome price for the land, ultimately legitimized what had been a raw deal.

What do the demographics say? Is the Southwest going to be predominantly populated by immigrants from Mexico and their descendants?
