It's common knowledge that I believe GWB is a dismal failure as a 'conservative' president. He was the RINO choice from way before the primaries and he has not let them down.

While it is obvious that our national police forces and intelligence gathering services failed us dismally for years .... culminating in the events of 9/11 ... it is not so obvious that a complete reorganization is going to do anything.

conservatives should take note that Allan Keys is quite disturbed by all the increased powers being given to the feds.

What is MOST disturbing to me is GWB's heavy handed willingness to turn the nation into a police state but at the same time do NOTHING about our outrageous immigration policies. AND this in the face of MASSIVE public outcry for immigration reform and a crackdown.I can not but be highly suspect of a president that allows 8,500 ME immigrants in here every month. What is he REALLY up to with this new super police fed agency?

it is not so obvious that a complete reorganization is going to do anything.

A couple points.

Power is like gravity- unmolested, it self-consolidates. This takes no sinister intent and illustrates a political truth: More often than not, it is the naivete of those elected to the systemic dangers that is the issue rather than the malice of the individual.

Being the 'driver' the elect is swerving to protect his political life without regard to the course they nudge the nation upon.

That said, I still find it discomforting, very discomforting, that while Bush claims an independent investigation into 9-11 would detract important resources from the war on terror... reorganization of umpteen agencies with a deadline on 9-11-2002 is NOT a detraction.

This, IMO, is a type of 'political dodge' not only on Bushs part, but congress also -- a dodge that borders on (the impeachment legacy of) putting ones political career ahead of national interest.

The American people, truth be told, are in desperate need of the assurances such an investigation would provide- forget about the 'incompetence conspiracy'- I mean reinforcing the basic idea that the public is the ultimate inspector and has the means to induce the political heat neccessary to maintain future accountability and competence.

Who is working for who?

Allan Keys

*snicker*

Well it only took 15 posts for a fellow Bush-trasher to toss his name into the hat! I am disappointed!
