All good ideas, because the faster each fire is found, and the faster the multiple fires are seen as a coordinated attack, the better.

On 9-11 they grounded the planes and stopped some other hijackings, after a fire attack we will probably have to restrict access to some areas, and institute (ugh) checkpoints, looking for out of state tag arabs.

The faster we do this, the better we will be able to limit the damage.

Travis,

I think that idea about checkpoints is a good one. In hindsight, it should have been done in LA. There are only a couple of days a year (usually in late October) that are ideal to start a fire in California. You need the Santa Anas. Since there is always knowledge of when the Santa Anas are coming, it seems like some of the remote roads into the mountains should have been shut down for a couple of days, or at a minimum they should have employed checkpoints.

That is easy to see now and too late for LA. But the knowledge from this tragedy can be used to hopefully prevent the same thing in Northern California and elsewhere in the future.
