Gov. Bush to receive International Achievement Award

The Orlando Business Journal

June 06, 2002

Gov. Jeb Bush is the recipient of World Trade Center Miami's International Achievement Award for 2002.

The trade center chose Bush for his leadership in promoting and enhancing international business interests of Florida and companies within the state.

The governor's efforts and those of Enterprise Florida, an Orlando-based public/private partnership leading the state's economic development, reached $350 million in international sales and produced more than $2.3 billion in capital investment for Florida, according to the trade center.

During his term, Bush is credited with leading trade and business development missions to Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Israel and Mexico. The missions helped Florida's international business executives enter new markets, expand the sale of Florida's products and services and promote the state's position as the Trade and Logistics Capital of the Americas, says the center.

Bush also is planning a trade mission to London from July 20 to July 26.

This is the 22nd time the trade center has given the award to an individual or company that does the best job in promoting Florida's international business interests. Walt Disney Productions, Esso Caribbean Central America and the Florida International Bankers Association are among previous recipients.

Bush will receive his award during a June 24 banquet at Renaissance Miami Biscayne Bay Hotel.
