Even if it is a duplicate, it does fit into today's theme.
Thanks, DaisyScarlett.

Glad you're back online, Cobby.
Told everyone last night I thought I saw smoke signals from you from South Texas
floating past me in South Carolina!
The photographs of the flag in Laredo give an inkling of how awesome it must be close up.
Thank you for taking and posting them.

I've missed you COB. I'm reading another McMurtry book right now. The Last Picture Show. I hope it's good. Stay safe.

Wow!!! I just LOVE these posts. Todays, on our Submariners is just AWESOME!!!
This stuff should be in the Elementary Schools and High Schools as mandatory History!!! You all put this together so well, it would be FUN and exciting for them.
Thanks for all you do..and GOD BLESS YOU!!!
Also, I'm going to be sending this site to a young father we know who is deployed to Saudi Arabia right now. Darin is serving our Country, and I think he would LOVE this site. He misses his family.. he has 4 beautiful Children and a sweetheart of a wife. Darcy is at home handling the home fires. And I think they would really love the support offered here.
I'll go send him the address right now. He just went over there.. so this will be good timing now that he has an e-mail addy!!
Again.. I'm amazed and over thrilled at the work you all do. Thanks!!!

I needed some information about this flag, so I decided to ask the cute Mexican lady at the McDonald's where I parked my truck.
I thought I'd blow her mind with my excellent command of the Spanish language.
The conversation as related to me later by a customer went like this:
Her: "So you want to know about the flag?"
Me: "Si"
Her: "Do you speak Spanish?"
Me: "Si" (wink)
Her: (Spanish)"What do you want to know?"
Me: "Si" (wink)
Her: (Spanish)"Why do you keep winking at me?"
Me: "Si" (wink)
Her: (Spanish)"Are you some kinda nut case?"
Me: "Si" (wink)
Her: (Spanish)"Do you want me to call my husband out of the kitchen to beat the snot out of you??"
Me: "Si" (wink)
Later in the emergency room the gringo nurse told me the height of the flagpole, but when I asked her what it was made of, she looked at me like I had an extra head instead of a busted nose.
"Why.....flag material, of course!!!"
Now I felt really stupid for not knowing that, but you can bet I wasn't going to try to find out anything else from that McDonald's lady!

One of my good friend's husband is a submarine commander and I agree with you that it requires a pure act of bravery to do what submarine guys do! :)

Neat web sites. Are you a 'real' sub-driver? If so, can you tell us some 'war' stories or 'sea' stories or whatever Navy people call them?

U-571 was a really good movie! I also liked the Hunt for Red October (Tom Clancy fan here).

Hello and welcome to the Canteen if this is your first time here. Thank you for your service in the Navy. I retired from the 'other' blue-suit service with 20 years and I love my life now. Good to meet you. Jen
