Dirty Nuke Plotter a Convicted Double Murderer
NewsMax.com ^ | 6/10/02 | Carl Limbacher and NewsMax.com Staff

The dirty nuke bomb plotter whose arrest last month in Chicago was announced on Monday has a rap sheet that included convictions for two murders before he was out of his teens as well as prosecutions for other serious crimes - all before he joined al Qaeda to fight against America.

When he was just 13, Abdullah al Muhajir - aka Jose Padilla - was arrested in 1983 on a robbery charge, reports ABC News.com. He was given probation.

From there Muhajir became a one man crime wave.

By the time cops caught up with him again in 1985, he was charged with and convicted of two counts of murder, aggravated battery, armed robbery, and attempted armed robbery.

Details of the would-be nuke bomber's murders were not immediately available, but the crimes took place when he was a 15-year-old street gang member in Chicago.

After serving time for murder and assault charges, Muhajir moved to Florida, but quickly found himself in trouble again, when he was convicted of aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony and discharging a firearm from a vehicle.

Despite his already lengthy criminal record, he was sentenced to just a year on probation.

A year later al Muhajir was convicted of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest. He served a jail sentence in Broward County, Fla., jail.

Muhajir dropped his given name Padilla sometime in the early 1990's while in prison, the Justice Department said Monday.

ISLAM -- the religion of criminals.

Ethnicity and/or race doesn't seem to be the factor. Lindh, Reid, and this guy prove that non-Arabs can be terrorists intent on killing Americans, Islam seems to be the main factor in this.

Your welcome. One thing I found interesting is in the afternoon they spelled his name Padillo. Now their spelling it Padilla. The same as Lana Padilla. I've searched for info on her, but I haven't found anything.

As I pointed out in the other thread, still awaiting a specific accounting of his jail time, but there's a siginficant possibilty this dude was in prison during the OKC bombing.

If he was, it will only be a matter of days till the more dedicated foil-hatters have him as part of an elaborate Clinton plot to let him out of prison to commit the OKC bombing, then pin it on right-wingers.

how, pray tell, does one get convicted of two counts of murder and still be free to walk among society?

And this is the reason he was placed under the tender mercies of the DOD. This person has exercised his "Constitutional rights" from the day he was able to pull a trigger. Those "rights" are exhausted.

The jawline is completely different, for one thing.

What's amusing is that John Doe #2 is supposedly "Arab" but he doesn't look Arab in any way, shape, or form in the sketch.

And if by some miracle Padilla IS John Doe #2, it just goes to show the complete inability of Americans to correctly ID "Middle Easterners" or Arabs. Which is interesting to note considering all of the supposed "Middle Easterners" videotaping things.

Basically, in today's environment, anyone who doesn't look exactly like Ricky Schreoder is "Middle Eastern."

EXCEEDINGLY difficult to research, but I suspect if you looked at the total Muslim population in the US (all Muslims, not just prison converts, which is an obviously self-selecting population) that the rate of crimes committed by Muslims in the US is lower than that committed by those baptised as Christians. (Of course, people cleverly get around that by instantly proclaiming that anyone baptised as a Christian or who ever attended Christian services who ever does anything bad instantly STOPS being a Christian at that point.)

You're right, but this guy seems too unstable to play it cool during preparations for a large terror scheme.

I thought the same thing, but then I read how he was followed from his Europe flight and given extra detailed searches. They even had his shoes searched. He had $10,000 in cash on him. Maybe he is a more cool player than he was at 15 years old. If my shoes were checked and I had 10k on me, I'd be worried, even if I did not do anything!

If you commit a murder when you are a minor, you get your hands slapped and then they let you go after giving you a few self-esteem sessions with a shrink and a state-funded canoe trip to learn more about 'getting along with people.'

Just don't get caught with a fingernail clipper in school- THEN it's serious.

S P E C I A L The Terry Nichols Trial

Tears as Nichols' ex-wife testifies

Lana Padilla November 19, 1997
Web posted at: 10:56 p.m. EST (0356 GMT)

From Correspondent Tony Clark

DENVER (CNN) -- Oklahoma City bombing defendant Terry Nichols cried in court Wednesday as his ex-wife testified against him, tying him to Timothy McVeigh and the armed robbery of an Arkansas gun dealer.

Though Lana Padilla has said publicly that she believes Nichols is not guilty of the murder and conspiracy charges he's facing, she has been one of the strongest witnesses against him in his federal trial.

Nichols is on trial for the April 19, 1995, bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building that killed 168 people and injured hundreds of others. McVeigh has been convicted for his role in the bombing and sentenced to death.

On the witness stand, Padilla cried as she described her divorce from Nichols and talked about their son, Joshua, 15. She frequently looked across the courtroom at Nichols.

When she read a letter from Nichols in which he wrote, "I have the most trust in you," Nichols and some jurors started crying. Defense attorney Michael Tigar attempted to console Nichols with a pat on the shoulder.

She said when Nichols left on a trip to the Philippines in late 1994 to see his second wife, Marife, he gave Padilla a package with instructions not to open it unless he didn't return. She said she opened it anyway and found a letter from Nichols to McVeigh.

Nichols advised McVeigh that if he received the letter, that meant Nichols was dead. He instructed McVeigh to clean out some storage lockers.

"You're on your own," Nichols wrote. "Go for it." Nichols family

Another letter told Padilla of a secret compartment in her home where $20,000 was hidden, and of a storage locker where she later found gold, silver and jade, as well as a black ski mask, a wig, pantyhose and makeup.

Prosecutors have been trying to tie Nichols to the robbery of Arkansas gun dealer Roger Moore, the proceeds of which the prosecution maintains were used to finance the Oklahoma City bombing.

Moore testified Tuesday that he had been robbed by a man wearing a ski mask. He identified items found in Nichols' house after the bombing as being among the things taken in the robbery.

Under questioning from the defense, Padilla characterized Nichols as a good father -- as a frugal man who was interested in stocks, gold and silver. She also described him as a practical joker and a reasonable person.

In the early mug shot, his right eyebrow looks scarred. The most recent photo shows a smoother right eyebrow.

Could he have had surgery?

Joining in a jihad against America is a Muslim type crime, I don't know who has worse statistics with individual crimes like robbery or burglery. Islam seems to appeal to a particular type of American but not all are criminals.

Take a look at the pictures above.

Is there any link between Jose Padilla and Timothy McVeigh?
