"I ask to be born only if I can be kept in a clean, well-lighted stall and spoon fed rich protein supplements until my tender calf flesh is perfectly smooth and white. Let me then live on in my butcher's case as veal cutlets at $5.99 a pound."

For my taste vegetarians are too violent. they engage in the wanton slaughter of other living things to sdurvive and assuage their consciences by telling themselves they are more moral than the lower categories of mankind. This was a part of the problem with the morality of Adolph Hitler who was a well known vegetarian. The equating of the murder of six million human beings in extermination camps to the harvesting of chickens is such a vast cheapening of human life that should it become the norm than humans will be so easily killed that we will once more endure an age of barbarism. Plants and bacteria are also alive. Insects are sensate beings
I for one will stay loyal to and cast my lot with human suffering. Yes, I love my dogs but I am first and foremost a human being. I further recognize it is the natural order for animals to eat each other that is the way it is false philosophy does not change any of this.

"Look deep into the eyes of any animal, and then for a moment, trade places, their life becomes as precious as yours and you become as vulnerable as them. Now smile if you believe all animals deserve our respect and our protection, for in a way, they are us, and we are them." You first.

My white and blue parakeet has just flown over to the back of my chair. He is, in fact, saying a few words to me. He likes people.
I have a responsibility to treat him and my dog (a white and brown Jack Russell terrier) kindly, to return the love they give, and to take care of their needs.
That said, I ain't giving up my steaks.

Years back, Virginia Postrel of REASON wrote a piece called "The Green Road to Serfdom", and in it were quotes just like these.
Her article header was: At least the Socialists claimed to like people.

Put a small child in a playpen with an apple and a bunny. If s/he eats the apple and plays with the bunny, s/he's normal;but if s/he eats the bunny and plays with the apple, I'll buy you a new car. Somewhere along the line we must have been TAUGHT to do the wrong thing. --Maynard I have canine teeth in my head that are calling this guy a liar.

With the exception of Einstein and Mark Twain, this is a collection of some of the most monumentally stupid statements I've ever seen.
The absence of logic is appalling. My mind is boggling...
