Thanks for posting this incredible picture!

Anyone who does not feel that 9/11 changed our lives and our country has a severe break with reality. My wife calls them locked into 9/10!

On 9/11, We were on vacation up on the Oregon coast staying at Shalisan. I had gotten up early likr today and was watching NBC, (no Fox News) when the local stuff was broken in by Peter Jennings. I watched in horror at what had happened with the first plane and even more horror as the second plane flew into the WTC.

By then my wife was awake, and we just sat and watched until the buildings collapsed. Then, the reports on the Pentagon came in. We called our DIL to see how she was doing, and she was terrified as a mother of two young babies. She had a lot of relatives and friends in the area.

We told her that we were checking out and coming home early. We couldn't be on vacation and enjoy it. While I was packing our vehicle, the first note of how some people were not impacted in the least happened. A young couple went out in their tennis clothes with racquets to play tennis. Their unsolicted remarks to those of us packing and leaving was that they were on vacation and what had happened in NYC was not going to impact their vacation and fun.

As we drove down the coast, radio reception was terrible and the news was minimal if any. We ate lunch at a restaurant that normally has a waiting period of at least a half hour. There was no waiting period. They had a tv on CNN, and it seemed like a rehash of what we had seen hours before with the old worn out Clintoon flacks on tv.

We drove on down to Brookings and spent the night in a sold out motel filled with people like us returning either north or south back home after cancelling vacations. After I unloaded the car, my wife turned on the tv, again CNN was it with no fox news. They were trotting out the same old Clintonian wh$res. I turned the tv off, and we went to dinner.

The next morning had jets flying up north to the Portland airport as it was closed down. The government people at the motel had been ordered to report to Portland or SF. We decided to come on home. Again with no real news.

My wife said to me, "When we get home just unpack the essentials and get on Free Republic so you can learn what happened and then tell me!"

When I booted up my computer and signed on to Free Republic, it was like for the first time in over 24 hours, I could get the real news and learn from my friends on Free Republic what had happen and whom was responsible.

I'm sure that all of us have 9/11 stories and how we missed Free Republic or came to it immediately to find out and learn from our sisters and brothers. How much is that worth? I don't know, but it has value to me.

FR was faster than anyone on 9/11.I think the first thread posted about the North Tower being hit was within 3-4 mins of the event. It was running like a hampster wheel all day, but still the best source of wire related news by far.

Thanks for your 9.11 experience.
I was on FR and saw the news in latest posts - maybe fifteen seconds or so after the first plane murdered.
The value of FR in my life, in so many ways, cannot be measured in dollars and cents.

If you lurk at FR, we would really appreciate a donation if that is possible for you.

If you post to FR, and don't make your contributions - that's sad.

When the media was talking about antrax and smallpox and having small children of my own .. I was terrified .. But it was the Freepers here at Free Repubic that calmed my nerves down .. I learned what to expect and what not to expect ..

We don't know what the future holds for us or what these terrorist will do next ..

But what I do know is that as long as Free Republic is around .. I can guarantee I will get the TRUTH and I know that Freepers will fight to for OUR country

Free Republic impacted me during the election gate scandal. I was so mad at the dems. I could have just *spit* on the bunch of them. I finally got up enought nerve to post after 2 years of lurking. It's something I've never regretted.
