"The conspiracy nut in me wonders what's to keep Ridge & Company from staging something to justify their existence."

I had the same thought. Anyway, one caught, a few hundred thousand to go?

Good point. Let's fire Ashcroft and crew and put you in charge.

Have fun. And remember: you must keep us safe as we spit in your eye and kick you in the groin.

What's to keep Clinton, Lieberman & Company from staging something to prove Bush, Ridge & Company are inept?

Are you a grad student? In what?

Diff equations on weekends, huh? My daughter does math for a hobby...I find her asleep under her blanket with a notepad and flashlight. On the notepad are problems she's practicing from the days lesson. She's 12 and starts Algebra I in August. arghghghg!

I wondered about this. Ashcroft said "Hosea" had been in prison.

"...the transfer to DOD custody is very interesting, because the guy is a citizen. However, Ashcroft recommended the transfer and asked President Bush to give the order to do so.

....-snip- this means they want to use the tribunal and want to keep their information on how they tracked him secret."

Thank God, they're using their heads. President Bush plays elegant, eloquent hardball and it will be our saving grace in the battle against these freaks

Given Ashcroft's logic about transferring Padilla, a US citizen (his description) over to the DoD because he was a foreign combatant, why wouldn't that apply to John Walker Lindh?

Don't the Phillies have a guy by that name? I know they have a Vincente Padilla, but during spring training I would sometimes see J Padilla in the box scores, and I think I recall seeing that name (Jose).

Is Padilla a common name? Obviously, that is not the same guy, but is the name relatively common?
