I also want to point out to all the people who have been profiling proponents that this is a perfect example of why profiling is not a solution.

I don't think this is a valid conclusion. First, since there is no single solution, the fact that profiling or anything else won't solve the whole problem is not germane. The question is whether or not it will help.

Profiling Moslems will help, just as profiling communists or nazis would have helped during those conflicts.

Profiling Arab Moslems non-citizens will definitely help. So what if that wouldn't have nailed Padilla.

We know there are needles, and we know where the haystacks are... by profiling.

Thanks for the update on the stockbroker with links to Jackson, BTW. I'll tell you where I think the real golden fleece is... come up with a link between the Pakistani ISI's Jamaat al-Islam (dirty with al Qaeda and an umbrella for all of the other Jamaat fronts) and the Nation of Islam. That would link Farakhan to the Shoe-Bomber, Jihad Johnnie, Pakistani Church slaughterers, and the black muslim Jamaat al-Fuqra fringe group that took over the Synanon site in Fresno, just for starters. There are hints.

Jamaat is an octopus of jihad.

Simply because you surmise they will adapt doesn't mean we should not try...and when they adapt...we try to adapt as well.

Your problem is not really that it won't work in your view is it? You simply don't like the smell of categorizing folks in general for police/intelligence work do you?

#424: Padillo, in effect, renounced his US citzenship when he joined the Al Qaeda. That's why he's being held in military custody and not jail.

Hope this helps...

Crimony. Such great Americans, those DU folks. So fond of our Constitution, ya know...

The Trojan Horse emptied it's belly here long ago.

And it continues to unload as we speak.

"Our government is allowing in almost 8,500 Middle Easterners a MONTH on visas"

That's 8,500 A MONTH!!! This is like playing Russian roulette.

We seem to be bugging all the rooms of the house, yet we continue to leave all the doors and windows, wide open.

Sounds like propaganda to me

I don't know but there is a press conference this afternoon with some of the families of the survivors that is supposed to ask some nasty questions.

His name is Al-majher(sp?). He is a hispanic convert to Islam. His real name was Jose Fidilla(sp?). He might have been recruited at an immigration center.

Could he be from the Philippines?

"Bin Laden has long-standing contacts with senior officials [of Pakistan]...," said Andrew Pearce of the Rand Institute in Washington. The Times of India also reported on June 17, 2001 that one of three Pakistani middlemen working illegally with Ingram asked undercover agents about the chances of obtaining components for nuclear weapons.

Are you aware of any mention anywhere of connections between these Pakistanis and Jamaat al-Islam, Jamaat al-Tabligh, or Jamaat al-Fuqra? All of the Jamaat groups are fronts for the ISI's friends of al Qaeda.

"Planning stages for a dirty bomb is not cause for a warning or evacuation of Washington DC, althought closing the city down might save us some money."

Why not? Most of the warnings now are unconfirmed non-specific (UFO)reports anyway. So why is this different? Who said anything about closing down a city. Especially in DC, nearly impossible. Besides that threat of a RDD is not really mass death.

Yes there are times when issuing a warning is mindless, depending on the way its done.

That's also where Ramsey Clark does his recruiting. Go check out the various umbrella groups under his IAC, and how much prison outreach and education work they do.

Joe, I think that you will be interested in this thread and the recruitment of Muslims in prisons.

Untrue. I just think that it won't work to the extent that you folks think it will. I am interested in results.

We know that they have been recruiting in this country since at least 1993. We also know that they would expect us to use profiling, as that is how they operate in their own lands.

Therefore, I think it quite logical to assume that they are actively working, and have for some time, in recruiting non-ethnic types to do their work. It would be foolish of the government not to take this into account.

Do I think the government should keep an eye on ME men between 17 and 40 years of age? Sure. But I also think that you need to look at all sorts of people, and I reiterate my comment above on how many ways I could think of circumventing airport security to avoid ethnic profiling...and I am just a Midwest housewife. My objection is to why people are complaining about random searches; they are necessary if we are looking at all possibilities.

Sabertooth, you cannot seriously think we should open religious descrimination as an alternative. Not only is that unconstitutional, but it goes against the very foundations of our nation. In addition, that won't work either, because those who are terrorists will simply LIE.

I just checked the DUmmy forum and there is almost universal outrage there over this story. No, they aren't outraged at the terrorist. They are pissed as hell at Ashcroft. They would rather have a dirty bomb go off than that there should be any credit given to Ashcroft for apprehending the terrorist.

Well, there you go. I've been ticked off at Rush for some time, but he has one valid point going for him: the Left gets crazier and crazier when they are out of power.

Believe me, those Rats would love for a dirty bomb to detonate here if it would mean they might pick up some seats.

They are that craven.

Be Seeing You,

Chris
