Vanessa Bauzá writes a feature column titled "Cuba Notebook", she has a tendency to soft-shoe issues, but sometimes gets great human interest stories such as this one, of a very brave man.
While I don't agree with some of his views, I can't help to admire his strenght of character.

I think I agree with him on the embargo..
His "ideologies" statement leaves me a little cold though.
Sounds like a ship without an anchor.

Because he used to be one of them.
To: Luis Gonzalez
That was my thought, former Communists always want to "move on".

I don't know any thing about the man, but if he was a threat to the Castro Regime, would he really be allowed to tape broad casts for Radio Marti from his apartment?

It's the answer to post #5.
Goehring also wanted to move on, as opposed to being prosecuted.
OF COURSE he doesn't want to be prosecuted.. He was one of them!

Not surprising that a guy whose radio program is subsidized by the US government supported Clinton's policies.

I thought you were accusing tet68 of being a Nazi, like Goering.

Not really, though I see your point. The persecution of people simply for having embraced communist ideology, would fly in the face of the (hopefully) democratic system of government brought about by positive changes in a country.
If a communist committed crimes against individuals, then they should be prosecuted, but to persecute people for their political views would make the new government no different than the previous one.

Oh how I love the fresh air of FreeRepublic!!! =-) It just feels GOOD getting called that by a fellow extremist, far right wing, hardliner. In another forum recently, I was called almost all of the above, but not from a fellow hardliner.

We have to hang together, or the libs will hang us seperately for the very same things I was kidding with Tet about.
When you hear that stuff from a leftist, they REALLY mean it..
(these are the people who poison dogs to protest the inhumane treatment of animals.. remember?)

Thanks. I only know what I've read in this article, which says that Oscar Espinosa Chepe supported Elian's return to Cuba, and he is against the embargo and travel ban.
