"Lloyd said the street patrols would include 50 to 200 people of various religious faiths, mainly Jews, carrying shotguns in bags, along with people licensed to own and carry other types of firearms. Others will carry bats, pipes, cell phones and walkie-talkies and will patrol the streets daily from 9 p.m. until 3 a.m. except Friday, the Jewish Sabbath."

Taking back America.....one community at a time....

Community militias (like most human things) have good and bad elements--they're more reliable to be around than the police (unless you're living in a rich neighborhood), and will be more effective at preventing crimes and tracking down criminals; however, they're generally poorly-trained and inexperienced, as well as being prone to excesses in the heat of the moment (Lincoln made a few speeches in regard to this).

I respectfully suggest that they recruit some Christians to patrol on the Sabbath. Otherwise, that is when they will be vulnerable.

Citizens armed with shotguns will patrol the streets of the heavily Jewish Brooklyn neighborhoods because of comments a suspected terrorist made about targeting them, a rabbi said.

KOOL!

That's what I call chutzpah! Real Brooklyn attitude. Now if only Sharon would borrow some of it from JDL or from Netanyahu and take Arafat and his gang out, for once and for all!

Where is the ACLU demanding that they cease and desist? Terrorists have the right to terrorize, you know.

"The Jewish community condemns such a thing. We don't need it. We can't have civilians running around with guns. It's going to look like Beirut here," said Isaac Abraham.

Pay very close attention to Isaac Abraham's phrasing. His use of the term "civilians" is typical radical liberal BS. He incorrectly uses the term as; "those who are not members of law enforcement". The accurate use is; "those who are not members of the armed forces of the United States."

This distinction is important. Civilian citizens of the United States have the absolute right of self-defense. It is also an obligation. Law enforcement officers are also civilians. They have a very tough job. As sworn agents of government, they have a higher accountability than nonsworn citizens. They also have a degree of "sovereign immunity" from prosecution for their actions while in pursuit of their duty. This does not and cannot relieve nonsworn citizens of their right of and obligation to self-defense!

Isaac Abraham should remember he is a citizen of the United States. As such, by federal law, he is a member of the militia. If the militia is called up, he ceases to be a "civilian". Until then, he and the law enforcement officers in his jurisdiction are all civilians.

I think I'd rather carry a combat shotgun than a cell phone, but why not both? There's not much chance of getting them mixed up.

This is a much more effective solution to the terrorism problem, than spending billions on the intrusive "Homeland Defense Act."

Why can't the leaders of our country, states, and citys see that these things always happen in gun free zones!

Today Commissioner Kelly (the Dinkin's pogrom facilitator), said that the JDG members would be arrested for carrying open or concealed weapons.

A radical group wants to arm residents of Jewish neighborhoods in Brooklyn to patrol local streets, but Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said anyone doing so would be arrested.
