it felt like the Twilight Zone!I'll bet. I quit watching the little three as soon as I watched the first Fox News and I've never gone back. Now I might start surfing just to see if I can catch a gem like that one.

This cabinet department is a PR move and a good one at that.
Let the Senate Democrats wrestle with this..

Isn't Rush supposed to be just an entertainer? It is interesting what difference one letter makes. If you substitute a "B" for the "R" in Rush, you get Bush.

Who came up with the term "Homeland Security". Sounds like something right out of Nazi Germany. Sounds fine with me, cuz this time around, the targets are the ME extremists, not me. Do I care? No, cuz this has no equivalency to what the Nazi's did to the Jews. I have absolutely NO qualms about profiling Middle Eastern men; they, and they alone, perpetrate the horrors against Americans. We are right and moral, they are wrong and murderous. So there.

She (Lisa Meyers) also did a piece on him (el Rushbo) in the summer of 2000 for the Today show. He agreed to do the interview, if certain stipulations were met. From what I remember, NBC didn't abide by their agreement.
Maybe NBC is giving Rush face time because someone FINALLY recognizes Limbaugh as America's foremost political commentator!!! Good for him! The more they keep this up, the more sheeple that watch NBC nightly news will come to know him in a positive way--not as the "right-wing blabbermouth" he was made out to be for so many years by the mainstream media.

Rush has been all over the map lately. Retracting positions more than little tommy daschle. Like what? I'm having trouble thinking of other examples.
To: Captainpaintball
The way NBC/Lisa Myers edited the piece it made Rush 'the voice of the GOP grassroots.'

And are you absolutely sure Arafat is a terrorist? I don't think so. I'd like to know what that meant, as well.

In regards to the summer2000 piece, I think she promised not to have the typical, stacked-deck liberal gaggle of Paul Begala-types make typical dopey liberal comments about what Rush said after the clip. Instead, they basically lied to him, and had Begala on after the Rush segment!
To: codebreaker
The only reason the media was there was to see if they could get a good sound bite of what they were hoping would be Rush bashing the Prez. What they got was his endorsement. Ha!

Who came up with the term "Homeland Security". As a follow up, the earliest use of the term that I was able to find is from the 2nd report from the US Commission on National Security/21 Century, which was published on April 15, 2000. While this is the first use of "homeland security" I could find, it should be noted that the first phase report, issued in September 1999, frequently refers to "homeland defense" in a consistent context. Now, while the term "homeland defense" has been used for quite some time, historically when referring to the Soviet nuclear threat, the first time I have been able to find it used in our current context is from a Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) Roundtable titled "Terrorism and Homeland Defense" from April 12, 1999. Here is a link
For those of you who are wondering what the CFR has to do with this, I point you to a previous post of mine, here (#52 - second one down). Also, I have found poking around the CFR webpage to be helpful when considering how we got to where we are today in terms of "homeland security".

Rush said today he had dinner with Gulliani last night and talked to Rove this morning. I think Rove filled him in on what the Pres. was going to talk about. So he backed off. And was talking a wait and see approach.
To: Brimack34
According to the NBC report (I still cant believe they are covering el Rushbo!) the maha-Rushie is 100% on board with Rove on this.
To: Pete
What is Salmon Rushdie doing on the Coucil of Foriegn Relations page..they will let anyone in these days!!

What am I doing wrong?
