I've seen some go all the way down the side of the screen!
Thanks.

"Editorial is for opinion pieces and editorials of note."That should have said- for published opinion pieces. Vanities should almost never be posted to Editorial.

A "doesn't this belong in Breaking News?" BTT...
To: Admin Moderator
A suggestion: either under NEWS/CURRENT EVENTS or a new topic named MEDIA, place newspaper, television, radio, and all those associated with it.

Way too many people posting vanities and bull to the news/activism page.
I know that the moderators try to move these to the General Interest side as soon as they can but it would be better if they started out there.
It might even get some folks to using the different forums the way they should.

Can't we just have one massive thread that just goes on and on and on and on about the on-going debate as to whether Bush is conservative or conservative enough?

Ironically, this thread is one of the few that arguably SHOULD be posted to all topics, so it's sure to be read. Kind of like when a big meeting comes to order, the main speaker has to yell "QUIET EVERYBODY!".

Can you post or link the above guidelines on the topics selection page as a guide? While they may be obvious to some (or most), I suspect some posters would benefit by easier access to this advice.
Also, it may be useful to detect article posts that have selected all or most of the topics, and display an error or warning message (I know, I know, one more thing to change...)

Was that DR. Conservative guy ever reinstated? the AM wrongly pulled his thread and banned him yesterday...

Is it ok to come in afterwards and add a thread to relevant topics that the original poster missed?
To: Admin Moderator
Frontpage is for stories that it would be reasonable to expect to find on the front page of a newspaper or news magazine.Okay, let's do a hypothetical:
I am just about to post an article that will definitely be above-the-fold front-page news in my city, but will probably not be considered front-page or section-B news outside of the tri-state area. Do I put it in Front Page or where?
To: Admin Moderator
Given that the topics for this thread were briefly...
...the problem may be in allowing anyone to add whatever topics they wish.

All I will add to the discussion is that clearly posts are being made to way too many unrelated topics, so whatever the right balance is, we aren't there. It would be a shame to have people lose posting privileges over something like this, but that is preferrable to us losing Freepers due to others making FR unusable for them. I think it's a shame to threaten loss of posting privileges over something like this. Sort of validates many of the things people have been saying about moderators.

Points well taken... I have certainly been guilty of this offense.

Okay, I need edjumacatin.....
I'm still relatively new here and I'm still not sure where to post at times. Like this morning I wanted to post a personal note of thanks to D-Day vets. I think I put it under "editorial". I think I put it in the right place, no one complained anyway. Not meaning to be mean spirited or overly critical here, but it is rather confusing for the new comers to try and figure out what fits where by the titles of your categories. Maybe you oughta create a couple of categories for those of us that just want to jaw at each other for fun. That'll keep us off of the news pages anyhow and not tick of the serious news junkies here. And be gentle with my ignorance. As a newbie, my flame suit is still on order :-)

Is there anyway that you all can just put up a note on the posting page Pick only one Topic or allow a person to only choose one Topic? I changed my mind on something over the weekend where it should go, and so I clicked on another topic expecting it to take away the first click but two of the topic areas showed up.

Huh? There are topics? And sidebars? How many shots have I had sho far?
