FRANCONIA, N.H. (AP) — Collisions between moose and cars are common this time of year, but joggers? A California man visiting Franconia is nursing a sore shoulder after bumping into a moose on a bike path Wednesday.

Steve Skelton said he jogged around a corner and found a mother moose and her calf running toward him. The moose hit his shoulder, then fell and skidded on the wet ground before running into the woods. Skelton was knocked to the ground but wasn’t seriously injured.

Hmmmm. Would be a frightening experience especially for an uninitiated Californian. He should be glad she didn't turn on him and finish the job.

Damn californians always hogging the moose lane, can't they read the signs? We'll have to raise the fines. Call the state police and have them go undercover to catch violators. Have then wear unmarked moose costumes.

I had to finish a hike in the dark in the Whites once. You could hear the moose in the woods crashing through the brush. When you weigh like a moose, bushwhacking is easy! I had to keep to the trail. By the way, those white LED headlights rock. Otherwise I'd have had to take it very slow on that almost moonless night.

Just about what I was going to say,I personally would be bragging that I shoulder blocked a moose to the ground! That would be good bragging rights in the VFW back home....;-)

No idea. How did you come by the handle Deguello? That is the title of a music piece which basically means: We're going to slaughter you like a chicken. This music was played by the Mexican army under Lopez de Santa Anna just prior to the attack on the Alamo. Poor Texans probably didn't realize they were being insulted prior to the slaughter. Most Texans in the present age do not know the significance of the Mexican military playing that song.

Do not worry, Native Texans know what this means and we are very sure that the defenders of the Alamo knew the same.

The Heroes of the Alamo knew that they would not reinforced nor assisted in their battle. There job was to delay Santa Anna as long as possible to allow Sam Houston and the Texas Army more time to establish their force for a later battle.

The brutal slaughter of the Mexican Army at San Jacinto was pay-back for what happened at the Alamo, Gonzales and other Villages and Posts.

I have heard that much of this is now lost or not taught in Texas Public Schools due to the PC crowd.
