Nader Suggests U.S. Stop Buying Microsoft Products, WSJ Says

Washington, June 5 (Bloomberg) -- Consumer advocate Ralph Nader suggested the U.S. government stop buying products made by Microsoft Corp. to fight its market dominance in computer- operating systems and office-productivity software, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Nader wrote the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, saying that refusing to buy from the world's largest software maker would accomplish more than the government's lengthy antitrust case against the company, according to the newspaper.
A federal appeals court last year upheld a ruling that Microsoft violated antitrust law. The court overturned a judge's decision to break up the software maker and ordered consideration of new remedies.
``If Mr. Nader took a close look at the software industry, he would find that no one delivers more technology at affordable prices to empower consumers worldwide,'' an unidentified Microsoft spokeswoman told the Journal.

I would answer you, but then I would have to display my ignorance and hatered of the LUNIX operating mess. I will go just this far: It is my understanding that they are all pretty much the same thing with AIX being the most user friendly and open source being most arrogant.
This far, and no further.
If I were running a server system or something, no way I spend the bucks on NT or something like that when Linux is free. I just realized a while back I was tired of a two hour slugfest every time I tried to get Windows to recognize my video card, and I'm also sick of hearing how the NEXT version of Windows will fix the bugs, and they all end up being Windows 95 with a new coat of lipstick and a more arcane piracy prevention scheme.

Sure! Why not make it open source? That should make the LUNIctiX happy.

No, they're not. It's not even close. The kernels all come from different source code bases. The userlands are all different, though recent versions of Solaris have been getting more and more Open Source as optional add-ons. A/IX is an evolutionary dead end. IBM is now spending money on tuning the Linux kernel for big iron (as are the Japanese big iron companies).
As for Open Source being the most arrogant, well, we wrote it. We're proud of it. If you don't like it, don't use it and as a bonus, we'll refund you the money you paid for it.

It is a truism: You get what you pay for.
That is why I tend to agree with the MS guy who called Linux a cancer. XP is a cancer too, but that does not make Linux any less of one.
It is important to remember that while every OS sucks, some just remind you of that sad fact more often then others. Probably Linux will eventually evolve into something that will demand that the kernal be recompiled every time the machine is booted, you Open Sourcerers being the proud lot you are.
