No. freezing is rare, but a common thing some jerks do, if they don't freeze them, is to turn the velocity (air pressure) up 50-100 feet per second! I had a point-blank welt that left a mark (on my back; a purple, blood ring under the skin) that lasted over a year!

If one of those had hit your temple or back of your neck, you could have been in real trouble. Hopefully, you got to discuss this with this jerk on a one to one basis, and he had no high powered paint gun to inflict more damage.
