Dr. Laura Considers Presidential Run

NewsMax
Monday, June 3, 2002

Dr. Laura Schlessinger says she may just run for president.

In a NewsMax magazine story cover hitting newsstands this week, America's most popular female talk radio host says she might seriously consider a run for president if Hillary Clinton decides to do so.

"If Hillary ran, I would have to run against her," Dr. Laura told NewsMax magazine in a recent interview now appearing in the June issue.

She described Mrs. Clinton and her husband as being "perverse, disturbed and destructive … and immoral."

In the same no-holds-barred, hard-hitting style she displays on her "Dr. Laura Schlessinger Program" – now heard on over 400 stations nationwide, with an estimated 15 million listeners each week – Dr. Laura said she was worried Mrs. Clinton would be considered a role model for young women.

"That would be horrifying," she said of a Hillary presidential bid.

"Everything I've read about her … the book the FBI guy who was in the White House, Gary Aldrich – I mean, you read that book and you realize the two of them are perverse, disturbed and destructive. And immoral. And legalities mean nothing to them. This is not a role model. But this is what happens when you have such ferocious bias in the media and only one picture is painted. It's scary. If Hillary runs, I'm going to feel a need to run against her. "

Other points Dr. Laura made in a wide-ranging interview:

On sex education: "In public school systems across the country, they're indoctrinating kids to be 'sexual' under the guise of protecting them, when you know that's not true. I think it is indoctrination for left-wing agendas."

On feminism: "The bulk has been destructive. I'm ashamed of it. And I was in the midst of it in the sixties, but I'm thoroughly ashamed of it. ... It's been very anti-man, anti-marriage, anti-family, anti-child rearing. I think that's been very destructive. All you have to do is look at the last two generations of our children, and that's your answer."

On gutless leaders: "I'm tired of the 'can't win against evil' way. I'm sorry, you cannot. They'll run you over. So that is my one big passion. "Ten Stupid Things People Do to Let Evil Win." That will be my next passion book. I am angry.

On public schools: "I'm sure there are isolated exceptions, but by and large, the public schools are dangerous. … In a language arts class in Michigan, they gave a writing assignment. Students were supposed to answer the whole thing. All the parts. In great detail. Questions like 'What do your mother and father argue about? What happens when they argue? Who behaves badly toward you? Would you say your family is dysfunctional?' This was the most insane thing that I had seen. This is a national program ... these things are happening in schools all over the place. It's like Nazi Germany – going through the children to separate them from their parents. I find this horrifying.

On her short-lived TV show: "My regret about the whole television show industry is that those venues which espouse the same virtues [as she does] did not have the courage or the energy to stand up with me. That's my regret. The little secret calls from well-known people saying, "We really back you" and "We're so glad you have the guts to do this." All the way up through senators. Christian groups. Jewish groups. Nobody else wanted to get hit by it. So here I was, Gen. McArthur. I had my pipe. I turned around and nobody was there. With a few minor exceptions, like Michael Medved."

I don't agree with everything Dr. Laura says, but I don't think she is a hypocrit. Those photos were taken a long time ago, and were printed without her permission by an old boyfriend capitalizing on her fame. I would hope we all learn from our previous mistakes and are judged by how we apply what we have learned. I know I have made many mistakes and hope I have learned from them.

Maybe you should try regular porn for a change.

Only if Dr. Laura agrees to get it on with Ron "The Hedgehog" Jeremy.

What kind of bastard uses a woman that way and THEN waits until she has a family and a successful career to deliberately try to damage her again with evidence of what HE was 50% responsible for in the first place?

That Arsehole needs to have his arse removed.

It isn't tough love. She is rude and condescending, and I have heard her misinterpret what her callers have started to say (started only, because she cuts them off), and then is too busy playing holier-than-thou for them to get a word in edgewise. Of course she then disconnects them, and continues her rant as though they are meekly on the other end, accepting her rebuke.

Of course she comes at it from the right end. But overall, her personality is just as undesirable as Hitlery's, IMO. She's just the lesser of two evils.

So, what did she say to you when you called that has you foaming at the mouth?

I never called Dr. Laura but she used to live a few blocks from me when she lived in West Hills. Nutcase then. Nutcase now.

However, I am still waiting for questions from anybody out there that I will answer ala Dr. Laura. Ask Dr. PJ. I will be incredibly rude in my answers....just like Dr. Laura.

I have never participated in any way in a political campaign. But if Dr. Laura ran, I would volunteer immediately.

She is rude and condescending

That, my friend, is in the ear of the beholder. But, I ask again, who calls her without knowing what to expect -- and who forced them to dial the phone?

It's a liberal trait to want to be overly protective of folks in trouble instead of giving them a shove onto their own two feet. *g*

Rude and condescending? And how dare you accuse Dr. PJ of misinterpreting what you have started to say? Face the fact, I am BETTER than you. Oh, you sit there meekly silent? WHY? Because you are overwhelmed by the unassaible moral position of Dr. PJ. Well, I sure am glad you are meekly accepting my rebuke.

Now, who else has a question for Dr. PJ?

She's just the lesser of two evils.

I would like to see your definition of evil.

You either don't listen to her or are unaware of what type of person Hillary Clinton really is.

Dr. Laura may be rude, but has never destroyed peoples lives without a thought.

Hillary has done so many times, there are several good books that tell it all.

Dr. Laura's biggest mistake is leaving evidence she was a immoral feminist liberal at one time in her life.

Dr Laura is a hypocrite. She talked for so long on immorality, and then her nude photos with a married man came out.

If having EVER done something wrong in one's life disqualifies a person from ever speaking out on morality, then I guess no one could ever speak out on morality.
No doubt the REAL goal of the Dr. Laura haters.

Scuse me, but a hypocrite is someone who is speaking one way and acting the other.

I agree. I've noticed a couple of them posting to this discussion. :o)

Apparently Dr. L. is supposed to "speak nice," but they are such exceptional human beings they can use words like "nutcase" but still proclaim their consideration for all humanity.

Or, maybe they're just trying to "model" hypocrisy for us. *g*

Waterstraat, dont fall into those same lame games the liberals play s o deliberately...They take a word that is unflattering like hypocrite and bastardize it completely out of context. Before you sling a word like that, make CERTAIN youre clear on its definition.
