Dr. Laura Considers Presidential Run
NewsMax
Monday, June 3, 2002
Dr. Laura Schlessinger says she may just run for president.
In a NewsMax magazine story cover hitting newsstands this week, America's most popular female talk radio host says she might seriously consider a run for president if Hillary Clinton decides to do so.
"If Hillary ran, I would have to run against her," Dr. Laura told NewsMax magazine in a recent interview now appearing in the June issue.
She described Mrs. Clinton and her husband as being "perverse, disturbed and destructive and immoral."
In the same no-holds-barred, hard-hitting style she displays on her "Dr. Laura Schlessinger Program" now heard on over 400 stations nationwide, with an estimated 15 million listeners each week Dr. Laura said she was worried Mrs. Clinton would be considered a role model for young women.
"That would be horrifying," she said of a Hillary presidential bid.
"Everything I've read about her the book the FBI guy who was in the White House, Gary Aldrich I mean, you read that book and you realize the two of them are perverse, disturbed and destructive. And immoral. And legalities mean nothing to them. This is not a role model. But this is what happens when you have such ferocious bias in the media and only one picture is painted. It's scary. If Hillary runs, I'm going to feel a need to run against her. "
Other points Dr. Laura made in a wide-ranging interview:
On sex education: "In public school systems across the country, they're indoctrinating kids to be 'sexual' under the guise of protecting them, when you know that's not true. I think it is indoctrination for left-wing agendas."
On feminism: "The bulk has been destructive. I'm ashamed of it. And I was in the midst of it in the sixties, but I'm thoroughly ashamed of it. ... It's been very anti-man, anti-marriage, anti-family, anti-child rearing. I think that's been very destructive. All you have to do is look at the last two generations of our children, and that's your answer."
On gutless leaders: "I'm tired of the 'can't win against evil' way. I'm sorry, you cannot. They'll run you over. So that is my one big passion. "Ten Stupid Things People Do to Let Evil Win." That will be my next passion book. I am angry.
On public schools: "I'm sure there are isolated exceptions, but by and large, the public schools are dangerous. In a language arts class in Michigan, they gave a writing assignment. Students were supposed to answer the whole thing. All the parts. In great detail. Questions like 'What do your mother and father argue about? What happens when they argue? Who behaves badly toward you? Would you say your family is dysfunctional?' This was the most insane thing that I had seen. This is a national program ... these things are happening in schools all over the place. It's like Nazi Germany going through the children to separate them from their parents. I find this horrifying.
On her short-lived TV show: "My regret about the whole television show industry is that those venues which espouse the same virtues [as she does] did not have the courage or the energy to stand up with me. That's my regret. The little secret calls from well-known people saying, "We really back you" and "We're so glad you have the guts to do this." All the way up through senators. Christian groups. Jewish groups. Nobody else wanted to get hit by it. So here I was, Gen. McArthur. I had my pipe. I turned around and nobody was there. With a few minor exceptions, like Michael Medved."
It would be a hoot, seeing the look on the former "Co-presidents" face when Laura gave her a Bitch Slap! The ex co-conspirator has never been in a position where she had to answer anything. Go, Dr. Laura!! GO!!
I listen to her every night. She is really good about some things but there is a dark side to her that I wouldn't trust. There are certain types of people she has no compassion for. Unwed mothers and men who have to find a place to "stick" it.
I really wouldn't want to have to choose. That's why I wrote what I wrote.
Sometimes? Try most of the time. Call Dr. Laura up and no matter what problem you have will multiply a thousandfold due to the fact that millions of other folks will not only hear your problem but they will also hear Dr. Laura rudely work you over in the name of ratings.
Does this sound as idiotic to you as it does to me?
Does to me.
It's called LUNACY.
OK, read that over....didn't you KNOW you were calling a talk radio show????
Repented? She still denies those pics are really hers.
As painful as it was, this woman fessed up. She was pressured, to be sure; however, when The BillyBlytheClintons were pressured, they just flipped us off and laughed in our faces.
I'll sure never call her show but there are probably lots of folks out there so desperate that they will call Dr. Laura....only to get raked over the coals.
So fire away, folks. Ask your questions of Dr. PJ and I'll steal Dr. Laura's act in my reply.
Tough love is very effective. It is part of a moral underpinning to call people to account for their mistakes -- particularly those who won't or can't yet face the same.
No one is forced to call her. And if they've listened before, they know exactly what they're getting into. Some people know they need a swift kick onto the right road.
You sound like the kinda person who wants everyone to pass, no matter how low the grade, and everyone to be valedicatorian. We need to realize that this "self esteem" way of looking at the world has caused many of our societal failures -- starting with the breakdown of the family and of public education.
Better we have someone that tells the truth bluntly than someone who lies sweetly.
I 've got to tell you, a vast majority of the people who call her show with their asinie and stupid problems need to be ranked over the coals.
Nothing like a good ass kicking to put "your problem" in prespective.
Callers:
"My 80 year old grandma forget my birthday. Should I write her out of my life?"
"I have three children from three different fathers. Should I use birth control because my current boyfriend is Catholic" ?
Oh... a half-truther, eh?
Dr. Laura has never claimed to have training as a "shrink." She does, however, have training in family therapy. Do you?
Only if they *need* to be raked over the coals.
So, what did she say to you when you called that has you foaming at the mouth? Just a guess, since those who make it "personal" usually have a reason. LOL
You might recall that Saint Paul went around, as Saul of Tarsus, killing Christians, until Jesus called him to His service.
Killing Christians is a lot worse than letting a married man use you sexually, but God changed Saul, and used him to spread the Gospel.
Who is to say He has not changed Dr. Laura and is using her for His purposes, as well?
Scuse me, but a hypocrite is someone who is speaking one way and acting the other. Those photos are from years and years ago and she readily admits that her ideas back then were feminist and self-serving.
I venture to say that if she could turn back the clock, knowing what she knows now, she would not have posed for those photos nor become involved with a married man. Also, she did not post those photos on the Internet. The vindictive guy she broke up with did that.
