Dr. Laura Considers Presidential Run
NewsMax
Monday, June 3, 2002
Dr. Laura Schlessinger says she may just run for president.
In a NewsMax magazine story cover hitting newsstands this week, America's most popular female talk radio host says she might seriously consider a run for president if Hillary Clinton decides to do so.
"If Hillary ran, I would have to run against her," Dr. Laura told NewsMax magazine in a recent interview now appearing in the June issue.
She described Mrs. Clinton and her husband as being "perverse, disturbed and destructive and immoral."
In the same no-holds-barred, hard-hitting style she displays on her "Dr. Laura Schlessinger Program" now heard on over 400 stations nationwide, with an estimated 15 million listeners each week Dr. Laura said she was worried Mrs. Clinton would be considered a role model for young women.
"That would be horrifying," she said of a Hillary presidential bid.
"Everything I've read about her the book the FBI guy who was in the White House, Gary Aldrich I mean, you read that book and you realize the two of them are perverse, disturbed and destructive. And immoral. And legalities mean nothing to them. This is not a role model. But this is what happens when you have such ferocious bias in the media and only one picture is painted. It's scary. If Hillary runs, I'm going to feel a need to run against her. "
Other points Dr. Laura made in a wide-ranging interview:
On sex education: "In public school systems across the country, they're indoctrinating kids to be 'sexual' under the guise of protecting them, when you know that's not true. I think it is indoctrination for left-wing agendas."
On feminism: "The bulk has been destructive. I'm ashamed of it. And I was in the midst of it in the sixties, but I'm thoroughly ashamed of it. ... It's been very anti-man, anti-marriage, anti-family, anti-child rearing. I think that's been very destructive. All you have to do is look at the last two generations of our children, and that's your answer."
On gutless leaders: "I'm tired of the 'can't win against evil' way. I'm sorry, you cannot. They'll run you over. So that is my one big passion. "Ten Stupid Things People Do to Let Evil Win." That will be my next passion book. I am angry.
On public schools: "I'm sure there are isolated exceptions, but by and large, the public schools are dangerous. In a language arts class in Michigan, they gave a writing assignment. Students were supposed to answer the whole thing. All the parts. In great detail. Questions like 'What do your mother and father argue about? What happens when they argue? Who behaves badly toward you? Would you say your family is dysfunctional?' This was the most insane thing that I had seen. This is a national program ... these things are happening in schools all over the place. It's like Nazi Germany going through the children to separate them from their parents. I find this horrifying.
On her short-lived TV show: "My regret about the whole television show industry is that those venues which espouse the same virtues [as she does] did not have the courage or the energy to stand up with me. That's my regret. The little secret calls from well-known people saying, "We really back you" and "We're so glad you have the guts to do this." All the way up through senators. Christian groups. Jewish groups. Nobody else wanted to get hit by it. So here I was, Gen. McArthur. I had my pipe. I turned around and nobody was there. With a few minor exceptions, like Michael Medved."
Not really. The whole story is that she was forced to "tone down" because the gay lobby hit her sponsorship so hard. Plus, the affliates that carried her didn't want to put her on at the scheduled time, so she drew some weird time slots. That started the whole chain reaction.
If the left "no free speech" crowd would have not spread half truths (like PJ), she might have had a chance to be tough and develop a better format. It might not have worked, but we'll never know.
You need to look up "hypocrite" in the dictionary. She didn't pose for the photos and have the affair at the same time as she was preaching against immorality.
So when she admitted that it was her in the pictures, that she had made some mistakes when she was younger, it was really a denial? So when the 10 million or so listeners thought that they were hearing a confession, it was really a denial?
Kind of like the criticism I have heard of Keyes' show on MSNBC. He is SO good when he outlines his views, and the rationale therefor, but he is forced to conform to this ridiculous "talking head" format where both (or multiple) sides are presented and he moderates. Dr. L did the same thing. She lost her regulars (me) and she never had the others.
And according to the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners, no one is allowed to use the title "Doctor" unless they are a medical doctor or a professor in the psychological field with a clinical license.... And "Dr." Laura has a PHd in physiology---not psychology.
So don't try to argue with the all-knowing, all-seeing Dr. PJ, the font of all wisdom---and a morally superior fellow.
Haahaha! A real comix -- that was!
Not trying to hound you, just reminding you not to throw stones in glass houses.
Title Nazi's!
Baloney. I know plenty of profs in CA with doctrates using the title.
I think you have half of the truth once again. She's not using the title to practice psychology and she doesn't claim to do that on her show. She says repeatedly, which you'd hear if you *really* listened, that she does a show on moral issues. She also has clarified what her training and degrees are thousands of time. Perhaps you are practicing "selective hearing." It's a common trait for those who are also practioners of "half truths."
Exactly!
Which is apparently why PJ objects to a show that focues on questions of morality.
Maybe. But it's easier to see that from here than it is in the middle of all of the protests and lies that were being printed by the "unbiased" mainstream press. Sometimes when you're in the thick of things, life ain't so clear.
It was a LIE and a denial when she first denied the pics were of her. Oddly enough she at first claimed copyright rights to those pics that she said weren't her. Later, faced with overwhelming evidence, she made her admission.
Dr. PJ is much better than this. He won't retract his lies.... Dr. Laura is completely sane.----And don't expect me to retract that lie...today.
Order me a front row seat! Dr. Laura RULES!!
I'll pledge $100 !
Hillary looks way more indecent with her clothes ON!
Phsiology is in the field of anatomy but is not a medical degree. Dr. PJ earned his degree from Quack University and is a fully qualified doctor of almost everything.
