WASHINGTON -- Occasional grumbling by some prominent conservatives about President Bush sometimes overshadows his extremely solid support among stalwart Republicans and conservatives around the country.

Many Republicans and Democrats seem to agree that support by itself does not tilt the 2002 elections toward the GOP. Some, however, say it could offset the gains the party out of the White House -- Democrats, in this case -- historically has made in midterm elections.

I guess we'll just have to sit it out until we find one.

Say, that's a good idea; especially for you; stay right there until somebody good enough knocks on your door.

In the meantime, don't go NEAR a voting booth.

The fact is that GW Bush has followed the Reagan model exactly and in many ways even more successfully. That is not a bad record for a guy that did not win the popular vote and was declared a lame duck president before he even started his first term.

Well I didn't really expect to see it but just thought I'd ask as that was part of the thread topic. As it is the thread has now drifted off into all other areas from immigration, cfr, religion, he's lost my vote, etc.....

Of course the thread will drift over to a discussion of policy, otherwise it's just numbers with no analyses about why the numbers are strong or where they might not be as solid as some would assume.

If the thread only discusses the poll numbers, it devolves into something uncomfortably similar to media/Clintonista echo chamber before and during Impeachment.

As long as we are told the alternative is a Yugo, of course we ought to be thrilled in comparison to settle for the Chevy Chevette because it runs a bit better and at least has a/c.

Then there are those who resent our having even loftier expectations...Like at least a Chevy Citation.

In the meantime, don't go NEAR a voting booth.

No problem, although we will try to sway others with conscience to join us. Hope you don't mind. After all, no one can force us to vote, yet.

what library?

Two, three, four...

To: concerned about politics

No, but we should be free to do so without repercussion. If you don't like it, move on.

Well, I'll put you down as "wanting to be able to do whatever I want to whenever I want to without repercussion."

Just remember: if YOU get to do whatever you want, so will everybody else.

So, tell me, how are you going to feel when two guys have sex in front of your kids at the library?

From the looks of it on this thread, if he doesn't do everything exactly the way everyone wants, he's not a good president. That's a pretty hard order to fill. How in the world can one man please 280 million people? Besides that, it took decades for the liberals to destroy this country, and it will take longer than 18 months to put it back together again.

....and remember that patience is a virtue. So don't be concerned if you have to wait a really, really long time.

Pat Buchanan is a good man. He has no gripe with conservatives, maybe with the repubs but he himself is a conservative. I support anyone who fights against the liberals and the way society is today we the conservatives are losing the cultural battle to the liberals who own the universities, school systems, the media, and the entertainment industry.

The year that all conservatives have to worry about is 2008. Because if hillary clinton wins election, this nation is doomed. She is the most dangerous political figure in America since the great depression saw socialists and communists rising up giving speeches about how if they had the support of Americas they would take America out of the depression.

We conservatives have to ally with anyone who has opposed views to liberals, if we don't they will win. Carl Marx's flunkies introduced something called Critical Theory.

When the communists fled from Hitler, the fled here to America. They set up their base camp in their cultural revolution in NYC.

Using Critical Theory liberals have managed to destroy the conservative reputation before conservatives can reveal the vil the liberals have planned. This is done by slandering our views using words that question our integritry. When you question a mans integrity you no longer have to answer his question, instead that man now has to defend himself and all eyes turn to him.

The liberals have cornered us in this aspect. Against homosexual brainwashing in the schools? Your an intolerant homophob, think that immigration is now destroying our country? Your a xenophob, think that abortion is wrong and that God's laws are correct? You're a fascist.

The marxists set out to do one thing and one thing only, hijack American culture and turn it upside down. They understood that Marx himself failed, his revolution of violence would not succeed in America, because America is filled with patriots, however turn the culture against the American patriot, something the marxist liberals have done, and like an infection that destroys your own immune system the public will turn on it's best and last defense of freedom, the mordern day patriot. The militia is known as the right wing extremist fascist gun wielding lunatic fringe. I would say the marxist liberals have succeeded.

Like I said before, I believe 2008 is the deciding year for America. Should hillary win we will go to civil war within the next decade or we will lose our freedom.

"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of "liberalism", they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened".

Norman Thomas, for many years the U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate

Yeah I have a lot of nerve to express my grievances with this republican president on FR. Better to stick the the WH talking points and not question anything Bush does.

No but at least have some idea of a solution when you feel qualified to identify a problem. Otherwise it is meaningless.

I doubt Hillary will win in 2008; I don't believe she will survive the primary process.

Bush signed the CFR bill because in his opinion, it had more good than bad in it. I agree he should have vetoed it. Is it enough for me to vote against him and put Hillary in office. Not even close.

Gee, I can't seem to find that protected by the Constitution. The right to sodomy in front of kids? Have you been reading that Marxist handbook again?

Saddam was let off the hook because we didn't want to dismember Iraq because we wanted it at the time to be a counterweight to Iran, who drove us nuts then as you recall. With hindsight one can question that judgment, but it was not a totally nutso one at the time.

Not totallly nutso, true.

OTH, many questioned at the time, without need for hindsight.
