Moments later the president reemerged from the helicopter and out onto the steps. The Marine was standing at attention, head and eyes straight ahead. The president leaned over and tapped him on the left arm. The startled Marine turned his body toward the president and received his returned salute!

I was so impressed by this true act of respect for our military people by our president! He really does get it. Most any other person of his stature would have just continued his journey, disregarding the neglected return salute

I had never seen this, and am glad I did. I've read similar observations & comparisons in the differences in the "salute" between our current President & the military, and Clinton. It's also apparent that W KNOWS HOW to salute, compared to Clinton. Combine this with the Secret Service of the previous administration and the current, and you have a group proud to place their lives on the line for such a man - OUR President. Another reason I love him. As FReeper McGavin999 said recently "He's one of us."

I don't know when this was written, but the part about clinton and the salute has been debunked. Go to snopes2.com, look under military and you'll find the answer. At the end of last night's, May 31,Special Report, the video clip was part of President Bush's introduction of Ms. Walker, the Queen of Gospel music.

What I especially notice is Bush's salute -- it's delivered with certainty, with respect. A sharp salute.
