Do you suppose that some of these madmen in the world take inspiration from prophecies such as this, thus fulfilling them? To summarize the contrast: It wasn't written because it would someday be done; it was done because it had once been written.

Not sure if I made any sense there, but it's a point to ponder.

most all of the prophecies blatherings of Nostradamus are vague, indirect, without any clear reference to the time or place of their occurrence and are open to varied interpretations.

A few years ago, in Nashville, IN, a block of businesses burnt to the ground.

This was just before Christmas, and after the big holiday dinner, it was suggested that we drive to see the still smouldering ruins. It was just a few miles away, so off we went: on an adventure!

Well, I managed to take a classic (so I think) picture of the rubble from just down the street.

Just across the alley was a fortune teller (liar) and I managed to get her sign positioned in the frame right in front of still steaming ashes!
