Two House Republicans are citing landmark education reform legislation in pressing for the adoption of a school science curriculum in their home state of Ohio that includes the teaching of an alternative to evolution.

In what both sides of the debate say is the first attempt of its kind, Reps. John A. Boehner and Steve Chabot have urged the Ohio Board of Education to consider the language in a conference report that accompanied the major education law enacted earlier this year.....

In my long history in these threads, I can't remember a definite example of a creo ever admitting an error.

I can remember one from Southack on one of his "Mathematical Proof" threads where I made a point about DNA information and sequence. However, his was only a concession on verbage and phrasing; he never conceeded that the underlying model was misapplied.

Or, one could choose to use it as a synonym for "designed...with interrelated parts". Which always give a thread that wonderful postmodern flavor of thinking that words can mean any old thing you like...

Great site.

Hey, that is good! You know what I'm thinking? I'm thinking we ought to print up some boards, have everyone who wants to play chip in a buck or two, and that way start a pot for the winner on the next thread...

Note that the concentration of atmospheric oxygen required to rust a static mineral deposit can be very low, compared to, say, the concentration required to degrade organic materials being continually introduced by active processes.

They all think themselves greater than God, they all think themselves better than God. However, none of them can accomplish bumpkins compared to Him.

In your opinion. Since I do not believe in any deity, there is no god/spirit/ghost/system to which i can measure my accomplishments or see myself as better than.

You would like to see the children in our country taught something which has a demonstrably negetive affect on their mental, emotional, and spiritual well being. And I think it is wrong

Yes. Evolution is the cause of all ails. It has caused many mental breakdowns for me. I am a nervous wreck because of speciation. Gravity has really got me down (ho,ho,ho). Thermodynamics has given me a fever (hee, hee, hee), etc, etc.

I would like to see the children of our country taught things which have a demonstably positive affect on their mental, emotional, and spiritual well being. And you think it is wrong.

Oooooh goodie! Are you pushing for the major teachings of Buddhism to become part of our curriculum? How bout asceticism? I hear that such practices are really uplifting and can lead you to the path of spiritual completeness. You're really on to something!!!!!

Good News For The Day

‘The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone.’ (Luke 20:17)

"There is a certain inevitability about Christ. He is the fulfillment of Herod's worst nightmare. Herod killed John the Baptist, and when Christ followed, the ruler thought John had risen from the dead. In a sense, it was true. Jesus' first appeals to the corrupt king were made through the Baptist."

"Christ is uncompromising; inexorable. He is unpreventable, unstoppable, unavoidable. An outline of the creation's future is discernible in the personality of Jesus. The new world order will bear the stamp of his character."

"The... invincibility---of Jesus is good news. It confirms our deepest hope-that the highest values known to humankind, will overcome, and reign. It is good strengthening to believe that Spirit is higher than matter. No one really wants to inhabit a world where material values rule. The incarnation of such values are exampled by Adolf Hitler, or Idi Amin."

"It is good news to know that we are loved by a 'tough love'; a love that is not willing to give up, or let go, and hence, a love that suffers long. In short we are loved by a love that will triumph. "Love never fails."

Inspirational Buddhism related quotes courtesy of: Buddha's Words

"He abused me, he laughed at me, he struck me." Thus one thinks and so long as one retains such thoughts, one's anger continues. Anger will never disappear so long as there are thoughts of resentment in the mind. Anger will disappear just as soon as thoughts of resentment are forgotten.

Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.

Do not think only of your own joy, but vow to save all beings from suffering. This is sharing in its highest form and purity beyond all poisons of this world.

True stature is not created by form or ornament; words spoken out of jealousy and greed oppose it. Only when evil has been stopped at its roots, and when there is wisdom without anger, is there true stature.

These sound good----are you going to convert to Buddhism now?
