A previous thread with quite a bit of detail. Easy to read...

"...When Mrs. Levy called him the first time asking if he knew where Chandra was, his response was to offer a $10,000 reward. This was even before she was reported missing."

"is this certain?"

YES, it is certain and it has been reported on....and when I first read this I was struck by it too....why would Condit assume that a $10,000 reward was appropriate, when...if he has no clue, as he claims.....it probably would have been more likely for him to assume she had gotten together with some friends, or gone to say goodbye to her Aunt Linda for a few days!!!!

To offer up a $10,000 reward IMMEDIATELY upon hearing from Mrs. Levy seems like a "Freudian slip" to me.

Based on the skeletal remains found in a Washington park, however, the medical examiner could not say exactly how she was killed.

I heard the M.E. say that they could not determine which injury may have caused her death. Does this lead one to believe that there may be more than one injury that could have killed her?

True! Does anyone know, where is the watch that Condit gave to Levey?

She left her apartment either not expecting to go far (no purse, money, ID, DL, credit cards) but being found 8 miles from her apartment blows that or she left with someone she believed would provide for her.

Maybe not! The M.E. stated there were personal items found at the scene...hummm. The police stated the only thing missing from the apartment were her keys. Wonder what they found. Police not talking.

You must not have invested the endless hours on Chandra threads that I have. ;)

Perhaps because some people have lives? And if I may ask...do you spend endless hours investigating all missing persons cases...or just the ones involving Rats? Just trying to understand this obsession...

Have read about Condit's dataing rules for his ladies? When meeting him, the women were not allowed to carry any of the items that Chandra left behind. Sounds like Chandra was on her way to meet her man...or so she thought!

Therefore he paid MORE than $10,000 to get rid of her....why set a dollar amount UNLESS you know they only ones interested in Chandra and money...got paid MORE!

I heard it from Mrs. Levy's own mouth. In a TV interview she said he offered the reward the first time she spoke with condit about the wherabouts of Chandra. This was before the Leveys were terribly concerned about her. That was a very telling statement for me & I have continued to see him act guilty.

reports also state that Condit was spotted throwing a watch away in a nearby neighborhood trashcan,

I believe it was the watch box Condit threw away. It's my understanding that he received the watch from a former mistress and later gave the watch to Chandra a gift. What a jerk, eh?

"Therefore he paid MORE than $10,000 to get rid of her"

Unless he did it himself.

"Chandra's family is now redoubling their efforts to link Chandra's death to Condit, who...will lose his seat in Congress in January.' "We believe that in her final days on this earth that he [Condit] found out that other people knew about the affair, and we believe that he was trying to break off the relationship." "According to the police investigation, Condit's wife Carolyn was in Washington when Chandra disappeared."

All of which says notihing...opinions and prejudice combined with coincidental evidence don't equal fact.
(The statements above might be mostly true, condit and levy could have been breaking up and mrs. condit might have been in town brow beating the old man and that does NOT prove that she held ms. levy down while daddy throttled her.)

If the family would have spent more time actually investigating, supporting in/forcing on additional investigation by the DC police, or even walking the park themselves, maybe someone would have turned up the remains before a year had passed.
If they'd spent less time pointing fingers at condit and his wife, his kids, drivers, biker buddies, and alleged monsters lurking in the closet, it's entirely possible that the killer would have been identified by now.
It is surely possible that condit was involved, but few crimes have ever been solved by hysterics and simply repeating an accusation does not provide any basis for conviction.

Condit threw the watch case away in Alexandria, VA. The city of Alexandria is 8-10 miles away from Condit's neighborhood.

THe articel doesn't support the headline. All the article says is the parents believe Condit was breaking off the relationship.

I thought he threw the watch box away in Luray Va. If he didn't, what WAS he doing in Luray that brought attention to himself?
