The New Thought Police(book review)
National Review online ^ | May 2002 | Tammy Bruce

LIBERAL ACTIVIST ADMITS: THE LEFT IS AT WAR WITH OUR FREEDOMS!

"Tammy Bruce isn't your average feminist activist. Instead of participating in the Left's ongoing attempts to silence free speech, crush dissent, and bring American society into lockstep with the liberal elite's agenda, she's speaking out against it - with a unique insider's view of the Left. In The New Thought Police, she bravely exposes the hypocrisy of those who are quick to charge conservatives with "hate speech," and takes on all the sacred cows: gays, race-baiters, feminists, multiculturalists, and many more! She even confronts the duplicity of the news and entertainment establishments and the dishonesty of academia."

Grrrrrr!!! Don't you hate it when you screw up so publically? I wish I knew how to correct the title after the fact. All copies were sold out at my Borders. I plan to read it as soon as I can lay hands on it. Has anyone else read it yet?

Watch Tammy Bruce's fortunes compared with those of David Brock. Brock's latest book has been almost completely discredited, if facts mean anything. The liberal media mavens do not care about such minor things. There is little doubt that Brock is mentally ill, which seemingly explains his ridiculous Clintonoid sychophancy.

Bruce will be pilloried for telling the truth, and making facts known. You are not supposed to do that in today's Orwellian leftist fantasyland, and the leftist media will unleash their worst against her. She needs to talk to Bernie Goldberg, and change her phone number. Good luck Tammy.

I listened to Tammy here in LA on the radio, she's a true shrill Lefty from way back. But she learned how the Left treats those who refuse to stay in lock step. Chris Hitchens learned, David Horowitz learned, even Hunter Thompson felt the heat (and backed off).

We'll see if Ms. Bruce has real bravery. Surprisingly, I believe she'll show more guts than Gonzo, and that she'll show spunk.

I read 2/3's of it a month ago. She would be the first to say it's not a heavy tome of great intellectual thought. She tells a good story, she's been working the media as a professional publicist since well before her 7 hears in NOW (President of the LA chapter and on the national board) and she's chock full of delightful stories highlighting the Politically Correct hypocrites of the lame-stream media. She played that media like a fine violin, and knows its sour notes with inside accuracy.

For example, she relates how Clinton had Donna Shalala's Dept of Health and Human Services pay California NOW (which was on the verge of bankruptcy) over a half-million dollars for a grant to study "tobacco control", between 1995 and 1997. When the Lewinsky scandal broke, the grant was transferred to National NOW, just before several key feminists, including Patricia Ireland, made that famous press conference, standing up for Clinton.

She's ready, and knows what's coming, and can play that game with the best of them. And she's tough.

FBI Raids Hillary's Warehouse in Whitewater Deja Vu

Ten years ago, L. Jean Lewis, an investigator with the government's Resolution Trust Corporation, was able to piece together a complicated Arkansas bank fraud conspiracy from a treasure trove documents she unearthed in an out-of-the-way Kansas City warehouse.

The result was the Whitewater scandal, which, after six years worth of twists and turns, ended in the first impeachment of an elected president in U.S. history.

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton surely hopes that history isn't repeating itself with the raid conducted by the FBI last month on another warehouse; this one chock full of documents from her 2000 Senatorial campaign.

"The documents were seized in a May 30 raid of a California storage facility containing documents of Peter Paul, the entrepreneur who funded Hillary Clinton's Senate campaign with over $2 million dollars in direct, in-kind contributions which were never reported by Hillary Clinton or her Senate campaign, as required by law," revealed the public interest law firm Judicial Watch in a press release late last week.

The raid is important for two reasons. First, it may yield yet another treasure trove of evidence against the Clintons.

But the second reason may be even more significant. The Justice Department's continuing investigative interest in the Clintons comes despite news last week that the U.S. Attorney for New York's Southern District, James Comey, decided to shut down a key part of the Pardongate probe.

Peter Paul and his Judicial Watch lawyers have been trying to persuade the Justice Department for the better part of two years to take his allegations seriously. But instead they seemed more intent on prosecuting him for stock fraud. That is, until now.

Judicial Watch Chairman Larry Klayman suggested the raid may represent something of a turnabout in thinking among Attorney General John Ashcroft and his colleagues.

"Mr. Paul could have turned the documents about the Clintons over to the FBI months ago under a cooperation agreement," Klayman noted. "Instead, he waits in a Brazilian dungeon for the Ashcroft Justice Department to get serious about this corruption case. So it is a welcome sign that the Justice Department is turning up the heat on this new crime scandal concerning the Clintons."

The FBI raid may also be a sign that the reported no prosecution deal for the Clintons, demanded by Democrat leaders as the price for President Bush getting some of his legislative agenda implemented, is beginning to unravel - since Democrats seem to have kept little if any of their part of the bargain. (See: Bush Insider Claims Clinton Deal Torpedoed Pardongate)

"The search warrant authorizing the FBI raid of the storage facility specifically references the Clintons and the New York Senate campaign," says Judicial Watch.

"The search warrant authorizes the seizure of: Records relating to New York Senate 2000, the Hollywood Gala Salute to President William Jefferson Clinton, the Federal Election Commission, David Rosen and Aaron Tonken... (David Rosen was the Director of Finance for Hillary Clinton's Senate campaign, and Aaron Tonken is a Democrat fundraiser who raised money for the Clintons. Both men have knowledge of Mr. Paul's contributions.)"

Meanwhile, Peter Paul awaits a Justice Department offer of legal leniency in exchange for his further cooperation in the Clinton case.

If he returns to the U.S. anytime soon, it could be a sign that for Hillary Clinton, it's deja vu all over again.
Someone at Freerepublic keeps breaking this stories thread,
Is a new agenda afoot here Freepers????????

OPS4 - while I am delighted that this is happening to Hillary, I am concerned that you are over posting this. NormsRevenge posted it yesterday as FBI Raids Hillary's Warehouse in Whitewater Deja Vu, and it seems you just posted this both as a top article Hillary under new Probe! (with the title changed from the original, and the link to the NewsMax home page instead of to this specific article), as well as adding this as a reply to 2 or 3 unrelated threads, as can be seen by looking at your recent postings.

I will ask the moderator to see if it is appropriate to clean some of this up.

OPS4 - Please stop cross posting this same article to other threads. This is the sixth time you've done such.
