President Bush attended a NATO ceremony today called the 'Rome Declaration', which made Russia a junior member. Bush also raised concerns regarding the child sex scandal in the Catholic Church as he met with Pope John Paul. The President and First Lady returned to the White House late this afternoon. You know, when Clinton was in office and I did not to see or hear anything more about him, there was coverage everywhere. Now when I want to see our President, and hear his speeches, you can hardly find anything. I wanted to see a video of his Normandy speech, but it is not on c-span nor anywhere else I looked.
I am in the boonies, and am cable deprived.

We were in Rome a few years ago and had a chance to have a public audience with the Pope. He usually does these on Wednesday and the audience consists of approximately 200 to 300 people, if I remember correctly. We had our boys with us who were 6 and 8 at the time. I regret that we didn't do it because they would have had an opportunity to see this pope.
Oh well, we did see him at a beatification ceremony in St. Peter's Square and got to hear his voice. A very moving and beautiful ceremony.

Did you know that was a private, private audience? No aides, no translators, no press. Just President Bush and Pope John Paul. That does not happen very often.

Give me a lawn to mow and I'm happy.Too funny. I always thought a great job for retirement for be a groundskeeper on a really nice golf course. It would be a hoot, especially the mowing part!

The White house has the Audio of the press conference in France when David Gregory attempted to attack our President with his disgraceful questions. I fing it hard to believe that David Gregory is an American. Listen to his question and ask yourself if he sounds like he hates this country and our President. Send David Gregory an email and tell him what you think of him.

Yes he is so respectful and kind. As I was watching the video of this scene, I was particularly moved by the way the Pope grabbed the president's hand with both of his hands and just held on with one hand as he patted the President's hand with his other hand. You could tell he was particularly pleased to meet with our President. It was a precious moment.

I think most world leaders have come to like and respect President Bush. He's likable and has proven himself to be a great leader.

There is no doubt that George W. Bush is the one leading these guys, They are comfortable with it, they understand his ability to lead,But, but, but when he was elected the dims said that he had No dimplomatic skills. Because it may have been weak in that area, I think it is coming out to be his strength.

I don't think C-SPAN typically covers any of the overseas trips. When they show anything from overseas, it's usually from a foreign service rather than C-SPAN itself.
I missed the Normandy speech. I can't believe he was able to get through it without tearing up and I sure his delivery was wonderful. He has become quite an effective speaker. Of course, I never bought into the press's line that W was a lousy speaker. He gave one heck of a stump speech when I saw him during the campaign.

Go to www.whitehouse.gov.
There is a story about the speech in Normandy, and you can listen to it on the web site. It doesn't have the picture, but you can at least hear it.

I caught it 30 mins. into the show, very moving, BUT wasn't our president shown at least for a second?? I was very disappointed, but over all VERY MOVING! Teary eye :(

I remember reading that the Pope once remarked that the one person to whom he had the most difficulty communicating with was Clinton. Said he felt like he was talking to a wall; that Clinton wasn't paying the slightest bit of attention to him. Somehow that doesn't surprise me.

Hey Miss Marple actually Pope speak and understand English I am not sure, but it seems that I once heard that Pope John Paul II can speak over five languages. Somehow the number nine is lodging in my brain, so maybe it is really nine.
