President Bush attended a NATO ceremony today called the 'Rome Declaration', which made Russia a junior member. Bush also raised concerns regarding the child sex scandal in the Catholic Church as he met with Pope John Paul. The President and First Lady returned to the White House late this afternoon. Get those right-clicks ready and enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

The soup sounds delicious and is similar to a few tortilla soup recipes I have. The black beans are an interesting addition that aren't normally found in tortilla soup in Texas. I'm going to give this one a try.

And not to mention kindness and humility. This president and first lady do not see themselves as above others, as the previous couple in the W.H. did. That is the reason for the high approval ratings....not the war.

Welcome back, my friend. I have the threads bookmarked if you want to find them. Yesterday, I played golf with a gentleman who just returned to Michigan from a winter in Florida.

It looks like Bush and Putin talk with each other some. Since I assume that the President hasn't learned Russian (boy, wouldn't that really frost David Gregory!!!), does anyone know if that means that Putin is really making strides in his quest to learn English?

The girls (and I) will love this. I have cilantro growing in my garden so I'll throw some extra of that in as well. When I first started using cilantro you sort of have to adquire a taste for it, but I really love it now. If I make salsa without cilantro, it just doesn't have the same zing.

Back at his seat, George H. W. Bush reached over and took his son's hand. In that gesture his father seemed to say, "I wish I could do this for you, son, but I can't. You have to do this on your own." President George W. Bush squeezed back and gave him a look of peace that said, "I don't have to do it alone, dad. I've got help."

Excellent post! This is the part that brought me to tears.

I usually avoid black beans, but thought I'd give this a try. You can't even taste them. Tortilla soups are just wonderful. This is the first one I've seen that actually looked easy and yummy.

I usually get a craving for Mexican food at a certain times (if you catch my drift)...

There's a restaurant here in South Jersey that has a little bowl of olive oil & cilantro & scallions on every table. They serve fresh bread to dip in it. Boy is it good. I'm trying to figure out if there is anything else in it. But the cilantro makes it.

Stop it now or we really are going to call you SUPERWOMAN. No, better yet, WONDER WOMAN!

The really wild thing is that it was a liberal aunt who shared that sent me that in an email. Could it be that President Bush is winning over the soccer moms? (g)

Completely agree! Cilantro can make or break a salsa. I consider myself a salsa expert, having tasted so many and found so few that are worth of chips and a margarita. We have a local restaurant called the Beltline Bar that has the best homemade salsa I've ever had. And of course, one of my all-time favorite salsas has to be from Chevy's... if you have a good salsa recipe, please freepmail it to me.

Thanks....what a nice piece of history....it's so great to be living in these times......well, with this President....at least - it would be better if the terrorism part was not front and center but it could be worse if YOU KNOW WHO were our leader......Thanks, again.

"Sometimes it feels right to look at them and wallow in the grief, if that makes sense. That's what makes us different from the terrorists. We have genuine love and concern for our fellow man and that makes us human."

You took the words right off my keyboard. :)

Just pulling your leg a bit on that one. Dubya really looks handsome in that pic - one of my favorites of him.

Hummm... let's see: Republican Wonder Woman of Republican Warrior Princess. I like the second one. It has an element of darkness to it (and I ain't no saint!)

I love black beans. Shhhhh, don't tell anybody this, but I put black beans in my chili sometimes. It's heresy to put beans in chili in Texas. I totally understand about the cravings, lol.
