The gun grabbers are a key part of the Democrats constituency and because of this they will never give up their quest for gun control, (at least not for long). Gays, taxes and partial birth abortion aren't particularly popular with the general public either but I don't see the Democrats abandoning any of them.

IMHO, it's useful to classify people into three general categories:

  1. Those who wish to have others take care of them.
  2. Those who wish to take care of themselves.
  3. Those who wish to "take care of" [and often, more importantly, control] others.
People in category #2 tend to vote Republican. Those in #1 and #3 tend to vote Democrat, though for very different reasons.

Understand this and the reasons for the Democrat stance on gun control become obvious, as it benefits both constituencies.

Overly optimistic. They won't even let airline pilots arm themselves.

The fight isn't over yet

CLICK HERE to read Joseph farahs column today. He's actually quite optimistic (my take).
