Amen Jesus
We also pray, Lord, for this family to put their loved one totally in your hands and trust you for whatever variety of healing you might give. If by doctors, medical care and medicine, we accept that, Lord. If by granting grace to live victoriously while retaining the condition, then we accept that. If by miracle, because we do not discount your direct intervention, then so be it. And if you provide the healing of eternity by calling this child home, then Lord, we accept that with grief but also with trust.
Because you are our Father and have only our good in mind.
We pray in the holy name of Jesus. Amen.
If you have access to a Christian bookstore, try reading some of Barbara Johnson's books. She has several but my favorite is "Mama get your hammer there's a fly on Papa's head." She has a way of putting things into perspective. She knows that even in moments of crisis we must keep our sense of humor and our faith in Christ.
Below is a quote from one of her books. If you let me know your e-mail , I can send you the scanned picture. The picture is a drawing of Christ holding a child in his hands, and a mother with a smile on her face, walking down the stairs looking back at the Child who is smiling and laughing with Christ.
"I am well aware that it may be hard to picture how you are to let go and give your child to God....One way of looking at it is picturing in your mind that you are putting your loved one into a gift box. Then, in your minds's eye wrap the box with lovely paper and ribbon.
"Next, picture a long flight of stairs. At the top is the throne of God, with Jesus sitting on it. Imagine yourself climbing up these stairs, and when you get to the top, putting your beautifully wrapped package at Jesus's feet and wait until he bends down to pick up the package and place it on his lap. Picture Jesus opening your package and taking your little girl in his arms and holding her close."
"You must be sure that Jesus has your little girl in his grip and you must believe that he will never let go. You have given your loved one to Jesus. He will take over. Now come the crucial moment. When you've given your gift to Jesus, turn around. Then walk back down the stairs. Halfway down, you may want to pause and see that your loveed one is safe in Jesus' arms. You may want to hear in your mind's ear Jesus saying, No one will ever take this precious one out of my hands and I will never let her go."
"As you continue walking down the stairs, thank God for taking control. Then, hear yourself praying, Lord..Do your work in her life as you see fit."
"ETERNAL PERSPECTIVE MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE."
I will pray for you, that you will have the strength and courage to face this challenge and the faith to endure the days to come. We don't know what is ahead, but rest assured,
"THE IRON CROWN OF SUFFERING PRECEDES THE GOLDEN CROWN OF GLORY."
Our prayers are with you all. In this time of trial and worry:
Numbers 6:24-26
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
Philippians 4:7
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
May God help heal her and see you and your family thru the agony!
