What I thought this writer was trying to say is immigration is one thing, but we're being swamped.
We currently take in a million a year legally. Is that enough, or would you like more? And what about the 10 million or so illegals? What would you do with them?
If Congress had enacted the Jordan Commission's recommendations in 1996, we probably wouldn't even be discussing this issue as much as we are today. It would have brought the legal numbers down to what they were in the eighties, about 500,000. And most importantly, it would have ended Ted Kennedy's disastrous family chain scam, along with tightening up illegal immigration laws. The legislation was killed by RINO's like Spencer Abraham. The "workhorse" considered it his best achievement while in the Senate. Thank God for this country the voters of Michigan thought otherwise. If he were still there, Bush would have already gotten his every demand for amnesties.
I'm not against immigration, I don't think most Americans are. But it needs to be done in moderation so we can assimiliate them. And it needs to be done legally.
